Las Vegas, NV — Today, Governor Steve Sisolak held a press conference updating Nevadans on actions and guidance issued by the State of Nevada to prepare for and mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in our State.
So, 1st day of this shit here in the Bay Area and the epicenter of Covid Cases in California. While out in the front yard i saw more than usual people driving around, walking dogs, and taking walks. The neighborhood gardening services are out cutting lawns, next door neighbor had his carpets cleaned. 7-11 is business as usual, so is the pizza place and liquor store across the street.

Gov. Steve Sisolak on Tuesday announced the closure of all nonessential businesses for 30 days in the state of Nevada.
- Non-essential services such as beauty shops, barber shops, and nail, tanning, and waxing salons should close until further notice.
- Only essential businesses should remain open such as, pharmacies, grocery stores, drug and convenience stores, banks and financial institutions, hardware stores, and gas stations. I am asking grocery stores consider special hours for the vulnerable populations
- All gatherings should be postponed or canceled. This is not the time for sleepovers, playdates, concerts, theater outings, or athletic events. Although you may not be experiencing symptoms at this time, you may be contagious. Do not risk your own heath or the health of others.
- Many of you will not be in your office or at work over the next few weeks. This is not a vacation and it’s not the time to catch up with friends. It’s definitely not the time to go to the movies. Every social contact increases your risk of exposure. The bigger the group, the higher your risk.
- This means that you should stay away from auditoriums, stadiums, arenas, large conference rooms, meeting halls, and cafeterias.
- I know in times of stress, many of you seek the release that comes from exercise. But this is not the time for you to be in a gym, healthclub, or fitness center. Until the risk goes away, find other ways to exercise such as home workouts, hikes, or other outdoor activities. But as you do so, remember to maintain social distancing from others doing the same.
- Some events are unavoidable. We still want you to experience the joy of weddings, but this is not the time to bring your friends together -- especially if this will require travel. Consider postponing the celebration to a time when the risk is low or eliminated.
- For my friends making preparations to say goodbye to loved ones, please limit the attendance at funeral services. Consider outdoor services where the risk of exposure is less than inside
- This is only common sense. In a time where people are getting sick from simply being near others, this is not the time for gyms to remain open. This is not the time for casinos to remain open. This is not a time for community recreation centers, clubhouses, movie theaters and malls to remain open. If your business brings groups of people together, it should not be open.
- Although I cannot and will not say that places of worship should be closed, I strongly urge our faith leaders to find ways to deliver to your congregation without bringing them together in person.
- Charitable food distribution sites, including the meals being distributed to our students in wake of the school closings, along with grocery stores should remain fully open and operational. Food services for healthcare facilities and other essential facilities should remain open. Any buffet or food stations used in charitable food distribution settings should transition to boxed meals or served through gloved staff members or volunteers.
- Restaurants throughout Nevada, in addition to pubs, wineries, bars, and breweries that include meals provided by a full kitchen should be reduced to serving food only in a drive-thru, take-out or delivery capacity. No dine-in at food establishments should be allowed until further notice. This also includes food courts, coffee shops, catered events, clubs, bowling alleys, and other similar venues in which people congregate for the consumption of food or beverages.
- Pubs, wineries, bars, and breweries that do not include meals provided by a full kitchen must close.
We were told at the plant that shelter in place would be in effect. I don’t know if that was over reaction or information from their conversations with the Governor’s office. Without it in the announcement, who knows.

Can’t speak for shelter in place but ours is not considered a SiP. That said, I stocked up earlier this month with food and essentials as the writing was on the wall. It was obvious this was coming to anyone that was even half-way paying attention to current events.
Hearing reports of long lines in gun stores in Vegas. Gun stores not even picking up the phone. I had a not pro gun friend call me this afternoon asking for help. I told him buy the gun and I’ll get him the ammo. Apparently there is a 36hr waiting period? Must be a new law. With all non essential business closing I guess he won’t be able to get it.

They are coming up with these stupid rules knowing they will get a certain acceptable level of compliance because a lot people are acting like cunts. That includes senior citizens. Example, my wife's boss is in his 80s and keeps coming into the office. His wife, who is still recovering from major colon surgery, comes in just to chat. Another elderly person in her office refused to go home. We're so-called sheltering to protect them. That is bullshit.
How would shelter in place be enforced? Authorities gonna shoot people? What if business owners stick together and open as usual to keep their business alive and keep their staff fed? Authorities gonna shoot?
Keeping your business open doesn't do any good if there are no customers.
I work directly with Restaurants and many are considering closing because there is no foot traffic. Has nothing to do with Political or Health and Safety policies.
It is ironic that this is being done to protect the more vulnerable elderly population while those stubborn old bastards ignore the suggestions to just stay home for a while.

My buddy in Brentwood said it was busier than ever yesterday. Other than less traffic, life seems pretty normal really. Still seeing stocking trucks for Safeway roll in on the way to work.

It’s not in a law. The point of contact office of the DPS which processes the background checks is not being staffed as normal. 4473’s need to be faxed. The office runs them and then calls back. They’re saying 72 hrs from time it’s entered (not time faxed) to receive results.
Normally it’s a 2 minute phone call, and customer walks out with their new gun afterwards. If the customer has a CCW, no check is required.

Its like anything, you cant stop them all. Some will get away with it (for whatever reason) and some will not.
All local gun shops and sporting goods stores are closed as of Tuesday.
I stopped by Sportsman's Warehouse on Monday (day before closures) to pick up reloading supplies and lines were crazy, a 3hr wait for ammo and they stopped taking new gun purchases at 4pm because they said they wouldnt have time to process everyone in line before they closed at 9.

Here in Indiana we haven't had any gun store closers but I was at mine yesterday and it was nuts!! People are buying AR stuff like it's life or death? Should be some really good deals again later in the year?

NOTE: I consider these to be unsubstantiated rumors at this point, at least until I can get some more credible intel. It may be nothing or may be something.

There's a crazy amount of rumors going around right now. I'm not listening to any of them. Period. To spread or otherwise propagate unsubstantiated info is very irresponsible and can make people even more stressed than what's already going on.
That’s how I’m treating this one more or less but things also change fast so wouldn’t be surprised if one does get declared.
One argumentative point to this rumor is the fact that our mayor, Carolyn Goodman, wrote gov. Sisolak a letter requesting he relax the state wide order to 15 days vs 30. Would seem contradictory for her to about face and approve a city wide lock down shortly thereafter.
But then again, things are rapidly evolving...
Literally today one of my buddies sent me a text that his sister heard from a doctor that heard from someone in the Air Force that heard from someone in Homeland Security about the upcoming 'quarantine' lockdown.

Drove through Las Vegas Boulevard at 17:40 on a Friday evening from the stratosphere to Mandalay bay with multiple construction cones & a few cars. Arrived at Mandalay Bay at 17:54, I saw maybe less than 50 people walking the strip including security & police.
