Nobody was lucky enough in 11 years to knock Sarver off the top spot, until now, and he beat it by a lot imo. The 600 yd BR group record has fallen a few times in the last few years alone, also with a 6BR ackley variant.
A few other interesting aspects to this. I didn’t know that the dasher was falling out of favor in benchrest at the same time it’s growing in our game. Looks like there’s been a shift towards ackley 6BR variants. Mr Wilson’s chamber uses a no turn neck. He must be at least skimming his necks, but clearly it’s not the ultra tight necks of the short range BR game. The 600 yd record was also a no-turn .272 neck. The BR scene is dominated(like 90% or better)by Krieger and Bartlein barrels, but the current records (600 and 1000yd) weren’t shot by either of those(Lederer and Brux instead).
When I get my machines set up again, I think I’m gonna build a 6BR something or other.

The 6br Ackley he used is shaped like a rectangle, I wonder how it would feed in a repeater?

Feeds great out of my Mausingfield using AICS mags with primal rights 6br kits.
Does the controlled round feed really help with those types of cartridges, or is the CRF not necessary?
Supposedly CRF is not necessary. The wife is getting a rifle built in 6BRA, and the action is a Lone Peak Fuzion (push feed). My gunsmith has been playing with 6BR and variant cartridges for a long time in push feed, mag fed actions - he says it's no issue.
I'm running a 6BRA in a Bighorn TL3 with AW mags and a HRD spacer kit. Feeds great. I believe Clay Blackketter won the Heat Stroke this year running a 6BRA in an Impact action.

The amount of luck to make that happen is like Mega Millions luck.
There are not that many shooters in the country to overcome those odds by chance.
That was skill.
We all know that skill gets you close then luck has to go your way. I've seen a relay at Hawks Ridge with 10 shooters. There were 3- 5" ten shot groups. Nobody paid any attention to those guys because there was a 4" group shot. Some days you're the bug and some days you're the windshield.

I'm impressed by the turnout alone.
In the Northeast there are probably not the many shooters in my whole state as their is for one match turnout.
Than to get that many interested in their one thing instead of all the other BS is another cause of wonder for me.
I need to get out more.

I never used a chrono much. In fact very seldom. The target tells all.
There were times I'd be driving to a match and say " Uh I needed another .5 gr. of powder" Sure enough I'd have vertical in my group. When you have rifles that accurate you learn a lot about load development and bullets.
I found it interesting that I had been using PC for the last 10 years not knowing it, via ladder testing at distance. I hardly went to that other site until SH went down for maintenance a while back, then got to reading about this phenomenon.
Many years ago I went through the chasing of lowest ES, extensive seating depth testing, 2-3 types of powder and primers, 2-3 kinds of bullets, that kind of stuff, and decided it was too much darn work and got pretty deep into throat erosion and barrel wear in the process. I'm not saying if a guy wants to do this it's wrong, like if shooting BR, but I didn't need to to win steel matches.
Best so far, at 323Y, doing the ladder in .1gr increments, for my current 6x47 barrel when it had a little over 100 rounds, 3 consecutive shots were touching with almost no vertical. That was first try and I was done. SD has been in the 6 - 7 fps range and I've had some very small groups at distance, like one enlarged splat on steel at 900Y, etc.
