Hope the above link works. A few optics manufacturers have release some information about new models for 2012, mostly models/reticles/prices. Looks like Leupold is trying to corner the high end pricing wars with the Mark 6 & Mark 8 models. Bushnell looks like they are making huge improvements in the tactical scope line. Just my two cents.

Re: New 2012 Shot Show Offerings

I am looking forward to the full report. I need to buy another scope right now, and am having a hard time waiting to see if anything is going to be worthwhile and available soon.
It would almost seem as if vendors are doing the same right now.

I am excited to see Leupolds new tactical division producing some current gen optics with desirable features. Creating a separate, smaller, and more connected division for tactical optics seems to be paying off. I am very interested to see the Mark 6 line in particular. I thought it was going to be the VX-6 line with desirable reticles and adjustments but the prices and objective lens sizes indicate that they may be significantly different optically.

I expect were going to see a review of the Mark 8 high power scope from you Ilya? I am very interested to see how it stacks up to S&B PR and USO.

Carl Zeiss Introduces the New CONQUEST Duralyt Riflescope Line

CHESTER, Va., January 2, 2012 - Carl Zeiss Sports Optics introduces the new 30mm CONQUEST Duralyt Riflescope line available in 1.2-5x36, 2-8x42 and 3-12x50 models. Known for their reliability and precision, all three premium German-made models are available with illuminated reticle # 60 or non-illuminated reticle # 6, giving today's active hunter excellent options for most hunting situations. The distinctive design, durability and outstanding value of these 30mm scopes set them apart in the premium segment.

"We're excited to bring this new line of rugged, versatile 30mm CONQUEST riflescopes to the U.S. market," said Michael A. Jensen, President of Carl Zeiss Sports Optics. "We want to provide our customers with more choices, and the CONQUEST Duralyt represents the best value for a European engineered riflescope! These riflescopes feature the mechanical precision that you expect from ZEISS, large fields of view, incredible daylight illumination and image quality that is absolutely outstanding for this class. Simply put, the 30mm CONQUEST Duralyt offers exceptional performance at a very appealing price point."

The illuminated reticle #60 features an extremely fine red dot in the center of the crosshairs. When turned off, the dot disappears and it looks identical to reticle #6 (both are non-magnifying reticles in the second image plane). The daylight-visible illuminated reticle #60 was developed using fiber optic nanotechnology that produces the finest illuminated dot in its class - covering just 0.3 inches at 100 yards on 12x magnification. Illumination is activated, and brightness intensity controlled, by pressing one of the two touch keys on the eyepiece. After four hours of unaltered operation, the illuminated dot switches off automatically. For manual deactivation, both buttons must be pressed simultaneously.

The progressive design of the CONQUEST Duralyt also features a unique dark grey, anodized surface with deep black rubber operating elements to ensure that the scopes blend well into natural surroundings. The CONQUEST Duralyt scopes are also nitrogen filled to remain water and fog proof for years of hard use and enjoyment.
The three CONQUEST Duralyt models provide hunters and shooters with options for just about any situation afield. The CONQUEST Duralyt 1.2-5x36's low magnification and wide field of view allows for quick and safe target acquisition at close range making it an excellent choice for dangerous game and tactical applications.

The sleek and compact CONQUEST Duralyt 2-8x42 provides bright images in twilight and allows for accurate shooting at moderate distances exceeding 200 yards. This is the model of choice for those seeking a practical magnification range for various types of hunting.

The CONQUEST Duralyt 3-12x50 is the ideal choice for shooting medium to longer distances during the day or in twilight conditions. The 50mm objective allows for excellent low light performance and yet this scope is still lightweight enough for mountain hunters.

Honestly, I do not know. I never had much traction with Leupold, so it may be difficult for me to get my hands on one. It would certainly be an interesting comparison.

John,

I am currently scheduled (only two days at SHOT this year, so I had to plan it out carefully) to visit your booth at around 3PM on Wednesday. Are you going to be around?

I'll put in a good word for you. I'm reviewing the CQBSS pretty soon and hopefully a Mk 6 1-6x now that they will be out by the time the S&B and PR 1-8x scopes are out. I have to contact Leupold anyway about the MK 6. I'll give my contact a link to your high power scope reviews.

The Mk6 at $1900 looks very interesting and at a much more reasonable price point than the Mk8. Any chance of finding out whether this scope is going to offer a daytime visible illuminated red dot reticle?

I appreciate the effort, but I am not sure whether they are simply unaware of me or have me blacklisted. If it is the second, you might get on the same list as well...
