Coming to the end of a new build.
McMillan bench rest action, right hand bolt, left hand port.
Lilja barrel, Jewel trigger, XLR chassis.
Built by Vestals Gunsmithing in Abingdon Va.
Will have some pics posted soon. I could not ask for better folks to deal with. We ran into all kinds of trouble with the chassis.
The first company we tried to get a chassis from ran us around for 8 months. I said to heck with them and went to XLR. They did what they said they would do and did it on time. Only problem was they had a different drawing for my action. When it showed up hole spacing was off. Contacted them with this problem and they made me a new center section and had it in my hands in a week. If you are looking for a chassis and a stand up company you cant go wrong with XLR! They do what they say, and I will deal with them again.
Pictures coming soon.

Re: New .50 build.

Waiting to get the barrel tagged with the Gunsmiths logo and caliber. Should have went today to get zapped in but we had a heck of a lot ice and bad weather, hell my car is in the ditch in front of my house right now. Will get pics as soon as she gets back.

Re: New .50 build.

What action did you get the chassis for?
I have a few 700 long actions I'm thinking of tinkering with.
Both have done well to 1000 or more in factory stocks, I just cant leave anything alone.

Re: New .50 build.

What kind of brake did you end up using and whats the specs on your barrel (length and contour)? Also what type of base did you go with for your action 30, 45, or 60 MOA? I have been considering the same type of action for awhile and have been trying to determine what stock to go with.

Re: New .50 build.

It has a Mcmillan brake. We decided that the Navy contour looked hideous. The barrel is finished at 30". It is sort of an overgrown Remington 700 Varmint/sendero contour barrel. Mcmillan 30moa base but a 60moa is in the works.

Re: New .50 build.

I was gonna get the specs from ya on the barrel.
All I can say it looks more in context to the rest of the rifle.
I have the numbers here somewhere. I'm just glad we went with the custom cut barrel. Thanks Excaliber.
Did you get it sent for the lettering last week with all the ice and such?

this rifle is too nice not to show off, hope Old95b10 doesn't mind but took some phone shots when I stopped by the gunsmith's shop today. This is one of the toughest looking rifles I have seen.
