1 in 6.5 was the twist to have when the 90 gr Match King came out at the turn of the century. But that was in National Match AR15 service rifles with the required 20" barrels.
A 1 in 7 might work OK if you can get the 90 and 95s going significantly faster than the 2500 fps that could be done safely in a 20" AR. I would go 1 in 6.5 to be sure regardless of barrel length and action type.
This bullet and the 90 would be the cat's ass in a long throated, 6.5 twist 22-250.

Why? I haven't been able to find the length of the new 95 but it may not be compatible with the 224V. And the 224V is a bit slow with the 90SMK, I don't know if stuffing a heavier bullet isthe answer.
I'm about to order a blank to make myself a Valkyrie, I may try them out. I think theyre on the heavy side for that cartridge, but they might work out.
Waiting on these to try in my 7 twist 22-250ai. Pretty sure my throat will be too short, well, for at least a few hundred rounds. Won't take long for it to be just right though.
Glad this thread was started though. So with a .600 bc @ say 3050-3100 fps vs my dasher shooting 105s at 2950, could this maybe start a new trend in prs? I only say this because it has even less recoil than my dasher but should be better ballisticly.

I think ballistically it could be better but a lot of times the 6mm’s already have issues with energy and flashing a target, and/or lack of splash. I don’t think it would catch on as a PRS cartridge considering the complaints already from the 6’s.
But it sure would make a damn fun shooting gun.
Barrel life to get those kinds of speeds would rule out a fair number of PRS guys I would think. 1200rd if you're lucky with any good accuracy left. That means a rebarrel during the season for some people.
I watched Shawn Wiseman shoot a straight 223 with some Hornady bullet (IIRC) very competitively at the PNTC Fall Scramble back in November. I believe he cleaned the furthest stages of that match (the longest 1100-1200yd were taken out due to fog) with targets beyond 1K and they flashed every impact.
I wouldn't hesitate running these at 3000+ out of a 22-250. I think a straight 22-250 should be able to achieve 3100 with a 26-28" tube without pushing pressure too hard, 22-250AI would probably be good for the full 3200 with lower pressure but I'm not comfortable trusting 40 degree shoulders to feed. 22 Creedmoor should also easily do it with even less pressure, and 22x47L should be pretty close to 22-250AI. I think barrel life would probably be at least 1500 as long as a slower/cooler powder is used. H4350 in 22-250 and 22x47L, MAYBE H4831. 22 Creedmoor or 22-243 may also have the capacity to do well with H1000.
Well, I'm running 90gr berger vld right now out of my 250ai with h4350. I am running them at 3166fps but had them up to 3383fps from a 26in barrel but primers were flat.
Number input into calc say 6.4 mil to 1k, and 1.6mil wind(10mph cross wind). Just for reference my dasher is 2.0 mil wind and 7.9mil elevation. The 250ai has more energy also. If you think about it, a 90 or 95gr bullet isn't a light weight. That's in the 6mm range. It definitely has less recoil than even my dasher which weighs 13lb bare gun no optic.
Even if it gets 1200-1500 rounds from a barrel thats on par with a 6 creed or 6x47l, 243 ect.

What twist is your 250AI? I have the standard 250 and am assuming I won’t be able to make these work in a 1:8. 75 eldm at 3380 is 5.9 mil and 1.8 for wind to 1000. A bit more wind cheating is always nice.
Mine is a 7 twist. You might give the 90s a try as fast as they ar e running it might work out for you. I tried 75 amax in it first for coyote but could not get them to shoot in mine. They were running right at 3500. I hope I can get the 95 sierras to shoot in Mine. The berger g7 is .281 but every little bit helps
I used to have a 223ai, I would say 2800ish. I was getting 3024 from a 75amax, and know people getting about that with 80gr bullets
I ran these last weekend out of my 20" 22x47 Lapua at 3025fps. 1-7 was working fine, I also dropped the .bc to a .595 and they impacted as predicted out to 1025. That was the longest target on that course of fire. Building a 22 dasher just to run these bullets.
Sorry, just saw the reply, not sure what the verified .bc is, Sierra lists .600, I ran it at .595 off the kestrel. Impacts supported the velocity and .bc inputs at 1025, must be close to what they are claiming.
I've been shooting the 95 SMK for a bit and confirmed G7 of .306 works for my 22 BR rifle. Confirmed with Kestrel 5700 Elite @ 1245 yards.
3100 fps * 12 in/ft * 1/6.5 rotation/in * 60 sec/min = 343,385 rpm. Get about 400-500 rounds on that barrel and sling 10 of them rapid fire in the summer and see how many hold together.
I’ve run them in my Valkyrie and my 223. The Valkyrie is a 22” Shilen barrel 1-6.5 twist gaser. Pushing them around 2370 and getting sub MOA groups, down around .700 if I do my part. The 223 is bolt gun with a Proof 23” 1-7 twist. I’m still playing with the load but everything so far has been close to 1 MOA or better. Had one 4 shot group that was nice then the fifth one was a flyer, still a nice group but would have been nice to have one ragged hole. These are running a little over 2400 FPS. So far I’ve been pretty happy with them. When the weather get warmer I’ll take them out to around 800yds and see how the work.

This is my 95smk load development from this last tuesday. These are all 5 shot groups at 100yds from bipod and rear bag.
Yes, for now it is. With that powder (CFE223), the higher velocities didn’t get me any better accuracy. I’ll be trying some different powders later once availability is better. Now the 69gr SMK’s are another story. Those like to run a little over 3000fps with the CFE223. I sure miss the days when you could do load work by going to the gun shop and buying 5 or 6 different 1lb canisters of powder to play with.
They are running at 2758. The oal is my base to ogive just for clarification. This load mimics my 6.5 130gr load within 0.1 out to 1k just need ever so slightly more wind hold
Isn't the increase in BC negated by the lower velocity? Driving 75's ~200 fps faster yields very similar windage. I could see 95's in a bigger case, but then blowing them up becomes the issue. I'd love to try a really long solid in a 22 creed.

Gotcha. I built a 22CM to push the 95SMK’s. Always gotten under 1” with this rifle. 1:6.5 twist 28” tube.
The easy button is about .230 freebore, 6.5 to 7 twist unless you shoot at sea level then stay on the faster side of that. A bigger than 223 case probably won't need faster than 7tw. Add a .219 bore, 5R rifling, and about 23.5-24gr H4895 to get to 2750. I spun them as fast as 330000 rpm (6twist but it's probably overkill for most use cases) and never lost a bullet shooting 25rd Fclass strings. Using a barrel shorter than 30 inches will also decrease likely hood of bullet failure.
