For some time now I've been stuck going back and forth between the Aimpoint CompM4S and the Micro T-1 while trying to decide which to mount on my DD M4. I prefer the 2 MOA dot on the M4, but can also appreciate the smaller form factor and outstanding reputation of the T-1.
Now, to compound matters, I see that Aimpoint has released their new H34 Hunter series of red dot sights. It's a little tough to find precise objective lens measurements for the M4 and T-1, but I would assume in each case that they are less than 30mm. The H34, on the other hand, has an objective lens diameter of 39mm. That difference in diameter, if accurate, would give the H34 a viewable area at least 70% larger than either of the other two. Given the parallax free nature of the Aimpoints, this strikes me as a difference that could potentially be a significant advantage in a close quarters engagement. At the same time, common sense would seem to dictate that if the advantage really were that great, then Aimpoint would have figured out a way to incorporate a larger objective lens and field of view into their tactical optics a long time ago.
So what say the experts? Is the H34 worth including in the consideration set, or am I better off making a choice between the original two?
