Im thinking of building another AR Setup but I cant decide on what what to put on it? I already have built (4) .223 AR's,
(2) 6.5 Grendels on AR platforms.

It would have to fit in a regular AR .223 upper.
It will mainly be for target shooting only.

I was thinking about the 6.8SPC next. But I hear the 6.8SPC is mainly for hunting rather than for target shooting.
Would the 6.5 Creedmoor fit in a AR (.223) upper? If it does that is defitnetly my next choice. I have never heard anyone with a 6.5 Creedmoor on a AR platform before.

The ones I could find so far are:
.17 Remington
.204 Ruger
.222 Remington
.223 Remington
6mmX45
7.62X39
6.5 Grendel
6.8SPC
6mmPPC
6mmAR
300 whisper
300 fireball
30 HRT (Herrett rimless tactical)
45acp
9mm

I'm betting you will be the only kid on the block that has one...

I would go with White Oak Armament (John Hollinger). In a 6mm Rat (6mm Grendel IMP.)or a .22 PDK (based on a 6.8 SPC with a 30 degree shoulder and small primer pocket). You can run 108 grain bullets out of the mag in the 6Rat and 80-90 grain bullets out of the mag on the 22 PDK. I have and like both of them. I enclosed a pic, .223 rem with 77, .22 PDK with a 90 sie, 6Rat with a 108 Berger all at mag length.

Re: New AR Platform build. Help decide!

That 6mmAR looks nice! I bet its very accurate for an AR too.

I seen that 24" Pac Nor barreled upper on that 6mmAR website. If I were to get one of those it would be that one.

The only bad thing is you have to make the 6mmAR brass from 6.5 Grendel brass, gets kinda exspensive when your buying Lapua for brass but I hear Hornady and maybe Remington is going to be making 6.5 Grendel brass.

Very good option tho. Definetly will keep that one at the top of the list.

These toys (at this level) cost time and money.
Accept the things you must do to achieve your goals.
My goal is to squeeze all the LR performance possible from a small frame AR.
When I build a match rifle, it'll be a 6mm turbo or 22PPC, 26" Kreiger barreled.

Re: New AR Platform build. Help decide!

What about the .224 AR that is talked about on the 6mmar site that looks like a pretty good option for use of a .22 cal bullet. Trying to decide on a caliber of an AR to build myself. Anyone seen one or tried one? More powder than 223 less than 22-250 so improved performance and better barrel life respectively in a AR platform.

ALL CAPS MEANS YOUR YELLING ON THE INTERNET! On another note, punctuation doesn't hurt either.

To the OP, I vote for 6x45 just because I want one.

Re: New AR Platform build. Help decide!

You might want to look seriously into the 6RAT. It is similar to the 6mmAR and the 6mmAR Turbo. I was developed by seven times Kansas State High Power Champion Greg Krebaum along with the help of John Hollinger and others who provided some additional technical review before the first reamer was made. The 6RAT lands between the 6mmAR and 6mmAR Turbo for powder capacity. The neck length of the 6RAT provides a longer bearing surface for added neck tension vs. the 6mmar Turbo but allows for more powder capacity than the 6mmAR. There are a couple of the major aftermarket suppliers that are offering this now and there is more than one reamer out there being used to make the barrels. More information can be found on the bottom the page at the following link:

The way I understand it is that this was not meant as a money making venture for Greg Krebaum, but rather the intent was to make the best 6mm variant for semi-auto use. He has shared the design for others to use and hopefully this will lead to proliferation of this accurate cartridge.
