I sold a new PSA upper on a new PSA lower, and it runs great, 100%, but will not eject a live round by hand. If I put my used BCG in, it works smooth and easy. I'm selling it as a new gun, how many rounds should it take to break it in? The bolt-carrier operation is Much easier on my multi thousand rnd BCG that the new one. Thanks!

Take a look at your extractor and ejector compared to your ‘good’ bcg. May have some friction in the ejector tube, or a weak extractor spring or funky extractor profile letting it lose purchase on the cartridge rim while ejecting the round.

check for debris in the bolt face and under the extractor. If you can post a pic.

Wait, you’re selling a gun that you have fired enough to know it runs 100% with 2 different bcgs but will not eject a live round with one of them, as NEW?

To the actual question, maybe a 100 or so.

You do know psa manufacturers most of their parts. They even forge their own upper and lowers.

I've been told by a machinist buddy that they have some really high end new equipment too. I'm not trying to say that psa is the same as one of high end outfits in what they make because I really don't know and don't have any psa stuff, but according to my buddy, some time not too far back, they retooled and have some really nice machine equipment... maybe others here know more about it?

Not that I like the purpose of this thread, to fix a malfunctioning gun that will then be sold as "new".

You need to be more Descriptive with the failure and why it won't eject. Will it not grab the Rim so the round stays chambered? It grabs the Rim but won't pull the round easily? Does it pull the round back but won't eject it? The BCG won't close on the round all the way? What ammo are you using? (If it's Steelcase I'd start there).

There might be a misunderstanding. The way I read the OP, he has a brand new rifle with a brand new BCG, that doesn't function properly. When he replaces it with his well used BCG, he gets proper function. His sale is of a new, but problematic, rifle.

I didn't know PSA FORGED their own uppers.
What is the forge mark for PSA?
The first AR the wife and I BUILT was a PSA two pin build :)
Ran (and still runs) fine.
Troubleshooting manual issues is usually more hand and eye stuff.
A proper description of the malfunction would help immensely with trouble shooting.
At least we know it's not a gas problem :)

Easing the charging handle back, if the pointy end of the bullet clears the receiver it should flick out.
UnPin, pull back on charging handle until you get flickage.
Pin it back up and pull back. Don't get flipage?
You can check the flickation with just the BCG and a round.

Not sure if they have a forge mark or not but PSA does indeed own and operate their own forge. All of their parts are made 100% in house.

i believe Anderson has their own forge also.

Id be willing to bet their are quite a few mid tier brands that get their forging so from one of those 2
