Re: New Baby, X-Ray 51

Very nice, I just got my Lima a few weeks ago, I love it, bugg hole groups are the norm. took it all the way to 900 yesterday and it was a blast, and a freakin laser!

Re: New Baby, X-Ray 51

Very nice!! Love the traditional green and black Tac Ops combo, so simple yet so damn cool!!!

I'm not sure there's a more perfect 308 than that one, well done.

Please post that range report ASAP.

Congrats on the new X-Ray 51 <span style="font-style: italic">jrhtx</span> - great choice of rifle and scope. That looks like a Tac Ops Heavy Contour - if it is, your X-Ray 51 is setup very similar to mine, except mine wears a PMII 5-25X on a TO 40 MOA base. Yeah baby, that 22" Tac Ops Heavy Contour is sexy.

Now get ahold of some FGMM 168s' or 175s' and see what you can do with them. On the other hand, if you find yourself too busy to make it to the range, send your X-Ray to me and I'll be happy to shoot it for you. I promise I'll be gentle. Heh-heh-heh!

If it had a DBM then yes, it would be perfect

Re: New Baby, X-Ray 51

Very impressive - as usual - from MikeR. Hopefully in the next few months I'll be getting my Tango with a DBM (from Seekins). Having fired Keith's X-Ray I can tell you you're going to be smiling from ear to ear for many days...

Oh lucky man!

Re: New Baby, X-Ray 51

I know it has been a long time but a lot has happened in the family that took priority to time at the range. I was finally able to get time on the XRay51. I am a below average shot compared to most here on the Hide but this stick shoots.
I know 3 shot groups are frowned on but after the firts 3 shot group, Trilogymac pushed/dared me on the 5 shot group.
After the 100 yard work we backed up to 500. First round hits on a steel silhouette seemed easy.
It was a great day in the country!

Re: New Baby, X-Ray 51

Man, that looks horrible. I insist you send that rifle to me immediately. I'd hate for you to suffer any longer with sub-par accuracy.

Looks like you have a good shooting rifle! Gets me excited to get my build going. Come on Manners stock!

BTW, roughly what diameter is that barrel at the muzzle?

I will check tomorrow. It is a lot heavier than the Tango.

Re: New Baby, X-Ray 51

Nice! I have been doing load development for my Kilo 51 and it has been very frustrating... I can't seem to beat FGMM at short range! And I can't feel the "Tac Ops Crush" on my handloads.

Enjoy your Tac Ops!

Poor shooter or wind. The wind was up and down all day.
Mostly poor shooter.

Is Mike doing DBM now? Think he would convert a Tango to Seekins???

Re: New Baby, X-Ray 51

It's not a straight forward thing as he would need to cut around the stock etc (this is from memory on a convo we had w while ago so best to call and verify). He did have a look at the Seekins DBM when I showed it to him. He thought it was very nice but I didn't go ahead with it as I didn't want to delay the delivery of my Tango.

I'd be interested in what he says if you do speak to him.

Re: New Baby, X-Ray 51

Very Nice jrhtx! All these nice rifles Mike keeps putting out I got to assume my Tango is getting close. At least looking at pictures of yours can keep a guy going for awhile.

XRay - 0.945" (22" barrel)
Tango - 0.880" (18" barrel)

Re: New Baby, X-Ray 51

I've noticed that Tac Ops does not do adjustable cheek pieces; have you guys been able to get a good cheek weld with the stocks? I'm looking at stocks right now and the cheek piece adds a lot of weight so it was something I was thinking of possibly eliminating.

Nice looking rifles!

Tac Ops <span style="font-weight: bold">DOES</span> <span style="font-style: italic">"do adjustable cheek pieces"</span>. When you talk to Mike about a build you have to specify that you want an adjustable cheek piece AND SPECIFY THE TYPE of adjustable cheek piece, i.e. McMillan "Saddle", "Integral", "Thumbwheel", or KMW "Loggerhead".

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: 71firebird400</div><div class="ubbcode-body">have you guys been able to get a good cheek weld with the stocks?</div></div>
I have really high cheekbones and I use a couple of thin closed-cell foam sheets under my Tac Ops Stock Pack, but I'm going to use the Loggerhead on my next rifle.

Depending upon your facial features and how high you need to raise the cheek piece to align your eye with the scope you may be able to get away without an adjustable cheek piece by using a Stock Pack/cheek pad. Maybe even nothing.

Thanks, they shoot even better!

It's when you load a round into the chamber and you feel it crush slightly. This happens because Mike uses a reamer designed for the FGGM 168gr and the chamber matches the round perfectly.
