A dangerous combination... I picked up a new Howa 1500 barreled action in 6.5 CM and a new Teslong boroscope. Both are very awesome :)

So I tried out my new boroscope on my new Howa barrel and here are some of the pictures. I have not shot the Howa yet, so I wanted throw these out there before I did and see your thoughts? I scoped my Aero Precision Solus and it was basically spotless. The entire Howa barrel was like the pictures below (I only posted 4, but the entire barrel seemed to look like this in some fashion).

Thoughts? Should I just take it to the range and see how it shoots before I get all sideways?

Thanks!

That's rougher than Howa barrels usually are but I don't see anything that would cause problems. I would shoot it and watch for possible copper streaks from some of those spots, which would tend to lessen with more rounds.

Or get a couple of boxes of ammo, go shooting, the go home, clean it and put it away unless it doesn’t shoot up to expectations then try shooting it again. If it is still an issue contact the company. Freaking out over pictures of the barrel. Not sure what exactly they will lead you to do differently.

I’m guilty of overthinking borescope pictures as well

Everyone should shoot a savage. Then they should borescope a savage. It will be an eye opener to what a borescope will actually tell you about a barrel and the way it shoots

If these pics are taken on a clean barrel, then that is corrosion pitting. If an uncleaned barrel, there looks to be hope though in the first pic. Looking outside the mirror and onto the barrel rifling the crap looks like it's sitting on top of the metal.

Brand new, uncleaned barrel. I will clean it, shoot it, clean it again and then take a peak!

Especially now with the boroscope, I always check a new barrel.

I had a barrel once that shot 3 feet to the right at 25 yards! Turns our the rifling and finish work were bad. See attached picture.
I thought it was the muzzle brake, but turns out it was the barrel.
