Hey guys, saw this article regarding a new rifle, Bridger, produced by Watchtower.

My question is regarding the new technology, new to me, that they wrote about. See attached. @Frank Green could you educate us on this at all? Has a Titanium sleeve covering the barrel with these cuts into it.

Call me skeptical but it’s nothing really new. It’s a sleeved barrel with a bunch of fancy machining on the stainless barrel. If @LRI put a titanium sleeve over their Pattern X or Murder Hornet I’d think you’d have the same thing.

So the liner is still a standard steel barrel... o.k.... not going to do a whole lot for barrel life in my opinion. Your still not stopping 65psi and say 2200 to 4000 degrees F of flame temp at the throat area of the chamber...might help the barrel cool faster but it will still heat up faster.

Rate of fire, caliber/chamber, pressures, heat etc..... that's your driving factor on barrel life. No way around it.

About 10 years ago we worked with a company doing a sprayed titanium type build up to the outside of the barrel.... turned the barrel liner really small etc... didn't like what we seen. Too many what if's....the company to my knowledge.... gave up on it but nothing we seen impressed us at all.

So right now... I'll sit back and watch what happens!

Looks expensive, and for what? The cost vs just fluting or dimpling the barrel would be more for not much different in outcome. Plus I think you'd be limiting yourself to straight profiles.

    Based on their description:

Something between the structured barrel and the JP Thermal Dissipator seems to be what the intent is.
