I'm getting a new Savage 12FV for Christmas, and I was wondering where I could get a new, thicker, bolt handle like they have on their tactical models and what would be best one for it?

you can also have the factory one redone by phoenix custom. i love mine. when i get my camera out of the shop, ill post pictures. it was $75 for a halloween special. maybe he will do a christmas one

The 12FV should come with Savage's factory "large" bolt knob...mine did.
I've got the factory large knobs on 3 rifles...certainly not custom looking but they work very well.

+1 for Stockade handles. I have one on my 7mm-08 and a bolt lift kit. Makes the rifle a lot smoother and faster.

Midway sells the Savage`s factory 110BA Tactical bolt handle ... I have it and is beautiful , but a little bit expensive .

Yeah, ordering direct from SSS is a pain.
What they do is wait until they have a certain number of orders in for a handle. Only then do they send the request to the shop to make 'em. Mean while, they've already charged your credit card and you're waiting up to 2-3 months.

You can also have a gunsmith grind off the knob on your Savage handle and install a new one.

i just looked at them, i never really payed that much attention to it, i just thought that since it wasnt a tactical model, that it wouldnt have the bigger tactical handle.

Thanks. I think it was $90 including shipping and 1 week turn around. Keith did a great job; The knob looks factory. PCR just did a rifle build for me and they are top notch people.
