New Build Problem

Building a "Budget AR-15" and a problem came up, While bedding the barrel I was threading the barrel nut on and when it stopped I applied my torque wrench to my Amour's wrench and applied pressure while waiting for the click at 30 ft/lbs, then snap my wrench broke.
Using a folded rag to wrap the barrel nut I used a pipe wrench to loosen the nut. Paying attention this time I hand tightened the nut and seen it was bottoming out on the receiver. So, my question is what to do to fix this problem. Any ideas?

What kind of barrel/barrel nut? You may need to shim the outside of the receiver extension to the barrel nut. Sounds like the nut is bored too deep, or the extension shoulder is machined too thin

I measured the receivers thread length and it was .575" then measured the barrel nuts thread depth to the internal shoulder, .583" which is .008" to long. I need to Mill off about .012" or so to get the barrel nut to torque to 30 ft/lbs.

Thank you for responding.

Nooooooooo you don't, your barrel nut is fine You're not taking into consideration The length your barrel extension adds to the face of the upper receiver, It just sounds like you need to stop buying cheap ass tools.

Yo, cowboy is this how you treat newcomers to this site, my first post and got wounded. I signed up because I thought I could get some help here. But along came bigjake83 with his sarcastic remark and chased me away, not even knowing anything about me and if I, had, any tools. A friend came over with his good heart and a wrench to help me, but I broke his wrench. You have no clue to my situation because you didn't even take the time to ask and that's OK here I guess. So, bigjake83, I seem to think this place is wrong for me because I am not smart enough or wealthy enough to be in your presence.

I would like to thank Mr. AMGtuned for his concern and suggestion. Thank you, and I will pass it on to the local gunsmith when I get there.

Adios cowboy, I'll find another Forum...
