new chrono under 200???

Re: new chrono under 200???

when i started getting into reloading a few years ago i didn't have much to spend on a chrono. I just bought a prochrono off cabelas, not the cheapest models they have it was like $120 i want to say.

It serves me well for load development, no complaints it gives me accurate readings never had an issue with it yet. There is obviously better out there but for what use it for it is great.

Re: new chrono under 200???

Umm? If you can possibly afford a 35P, get it. Cut back on beer, make your wife do her own nails, do without the premium channels, but if you perceive the need, then get the best. You will never regret it. BB

Re: new chrono under 200???

Another happy pro chrono user. Bought my pro chorno plus in 99 or 2000. If I were to have to replace it I'd get the new pro chrono digital and usb adaptor.

Re: new chrono under 200???

For the money you can not beat the CED.
Add the optional infrared lighting option and you may not be able to beat it at any price.

Also buy a heavy tripod (used is fine). If the tripod/chrono wiggle from muzzle blast chronograph accuracy and consistency go out the window. If you see it move reset the unit farther from the muzzle.

Re: new chrono under 200???

I have a Shooting Chrony Beta Master and I think I hate it. I just had to send it in for service because the cable failed. I was getting all sorts of problem readings. They calibrated it while they had it in the shop. Still getting tons of errors and now my 7mm-08 is evidently zipping 139gr bullets at just over 9,000fps. Hmmm...

I'm surprised to see so many here recommend the CED M2. Out of 30 reviews on Midway it is only getting 3 stars.

Re: new chrono under 200???

Oh wow, 9000 fps, that is a little fast. Yea i would say that is not accurate. haha, well as for the Competition electronics ProChrono, it has very good reviews on midway and it is around $100. As far as accuracy, i really have nothing to compare it to other than it getting very consistent readings.
