Same here. I am envious as I plan on doing very very similar modifications when I purchase the Rail Gun.

Re: new colt rail gun... pre surgery

he's fitting a series 70 slide to it and then cutting series 70 serrations on the front so it will look more like a 10-8 series pistol

Re: new colt rail gun... pre surgery

I began a quest for my ideal 1911 and the Colt Rail Gun was the closest, but it lacked a few additional options that I desired. I went the "from the frame up" route, but you look like you will get what you wanted after your 'smith hones the Colt. Best of luck and post a picture, when the job is done.

Re: new colt rail gun... pre surgery

yeah it all started as a kimber TLE/RL i had with external extrator so i wanted him to build the frame with a new slide. once we added all the options i wanted it worked out to be a full house build and he didn't really want to do that on a kimber frame. so we scratched the frame, sold it and bought the rail gun for the base. so now i'm at the same price as i was goin to be with the kimber base frame but now it will be ALL colt. kinda happy we ended up this way.
