Pulled the trigger on a second PVS-14 today. I'm planning to run them on a Crye cap most of the time, but I started thinking about some of the crazier hunts and my general mountaineering activities, and now I'm thinking ahead and looking for a good, solid, lightweight bump helmet.

Aside from the two PVS-14s, I'll have an IC D-14 LW bridge (with dovetail adapters), G24, and Wilcox L4 3-hole. No real plans to run comms, but possibly a battery pack at some point (I will definitely want to run an IR illuminator). Budget is ~$700 (plus $100 for pads)

My understanding is the 3-hole would rule out TW, but I would like some form of rated mountaineering type protection. Should I be looking at something like an Ops-Core carbon?

Also, I'm a 7.5 / size L .. do the Ops-Core units run true to size?

Not sure why a 3 hole would rule out a TW(?). I thought the Ops core shrouds were polymer (not metal like TW).
I could be wrong. Someone told me a while back that they had problems trying to mount the Wilcox L4 3-hole shroud to a TW helmet.

As far as sizing, I wear a 7.5 ball cap and a L/XL ops core bump fits me. Has a little room to go bigger if needed
Good deal! Definitely going to need some extra room for a beanie in the winter and for extra padding.

I really don't need anything too fancy, just something on the lighter side that will protect my head reasonably from rocks (and whatever the Cascades decides to throw at me).
