I recently received my long awaited SAS Arbiter TOMB from the great folks at MileHigh Shooting. The results are impressive and exceeded my expectations so I thought I would share them others on the forum.

Adam at MileHigh installed three TOMB breaks on a BigHorn .260, an AI/AE .308 and a custom .308 I call the "Light Booking Gun".

The Bighorn .260 is pictured in the back (swapped out the Surfire for the TOMB break). Foreground is a .223 trainer from milehigh:

Here is what the BigHorn.260 does through the SAS at 100 and 200 yards (shot prone off bipod and rear bag):

Here is an "on-off" test with the "Light Booking Gun": shoot one shot w/o suppressor put the SAS on shoot one shot, take the suppressor off ... and so on. Shot prone off a bi-pod w/rear bag (lots of up and down and getting in and out of possition). Note I was so excited to try this out that I didn't bother to re-zero after I got the gun back from MileHigh:

The AE shoots 3/8" at 100 and still shoots 3/8" at 100 through the SAS - for some reason this gun has a shift .3 mils right and .1 up. The other rifles shift straight down about 1".

I have over 100 rounds through the SAS and have found it to be dead-nuts repeatable, quieter (to my ears) than my TBAC 30P and does not affect the precision of any of these rifles.

In one case the SAS actually improved the group size of LC 118 Ball in the Light Booking gun but that was the exception. All other loads tested in these guns the group size remained the same with or without the SAS installed.

I own a TBAC 30P-1 which is fantastic and I love it to pieces but if Suppressors are like girlfriends ... this one might just be my new "favorite" ... time will tell ...

FWIW,

I'm not sure that you could classify my post as a heads up comparison of the TBAC to the Arbiter but rather my experience so far. I have found that they are both well suited to precision rifles. I bought the TBAC based on the recommendations of fellow long-range shooters in here in CO. It has performed as advertised. My guns that can shoot 1/4 MOA shoot 1/4 MOA through the TBAC.

I bought the TOMB SAS Arbiter (not the QD) based on the trust that I have in the folks at Milehigh. I was skeptical of their claims and didn't think that it would keep up with the TBAC for precision work but it does.

So based on my experience so far:

Precision - Wash: TBAC and Arbiter are the same (no degradation in precision noticed)

POI Shift - Give a slight Edge to the TBAC:

Both suppressors exhibit POI shifts in the 1/2 - 1.5 MOA range: Both are dead nuts repeatable but ALL of the TBAC POI shifts are straight down. Most of the SAS POI shifts are straight down but there is one gun (AI) that has a .3mil L and .1 down shift.

Sound Suppression - SAS seams noticeably quieter than he TBAC. This is only a subjective report based on my ears and the ears of a few shooing buddies.

The TBAC is a direct thread on and has been shot through a .223, 6.5x55 and .308

The SAS is a thread over muzzle break (TOMB) and has been shot on two .308's and a .260.

I will say that the TOMB seams to be sensitive to seating the can properly ... if you put it on loose it can back off and you will have a tough time hitting the paper at 100 yards ... snug it up tight with two hands and it performs flawlessly.

I don't have enough experience to know if this is an issue with cans in general ... how snug is too snug or when is it snug enough?

I have not seen this issue with the TBAC but then I tend to put it on tight for fear of it loosening and incurring a baffle strike.

Your Arbiter is a QD version and not the actual threaded version. Very important to point out that some QD cans are accurate and repeatable! I didn't take it as an actual test, only that the SAS is as good as anything on the market for a can designed for accuracy.

I should be clear. The version that I purchased is a thread on over a muzzle break (T.O.M.B.). Very much like the TBAC BA series or the AWC THOR PSR setup. It is not the SAS QD can.

That is cool that you own both. I've wanted the Arbiter for a long time and I finally decided to purchase one. Issue is Mile High waiting on cans from SAS. I got tired of waiting and ordered the 30P-1.

I'm bad at waiting and the extra wait drove me to buy the TBAC. I keep on hearing how much better CS is from TBAC. In the end CS/availability made my decision.

Both are great cans and you should be happy with your 30P.

I didn't know anything about the SAS cans but bought it based on the great results the MileHigh folks were seeing with the TOMB version of the Arbiter.

The CS from MileHigh has been world class for some of the firearms and AI barrels I purchased there.

I have no idea about the thunder beast CS as I have had no issues whatsoever with the TBAC 30p and haven't had to call

I assumed you had the QD version since you posted a pic of a rifle wearing a QD. I have several SAS cans myself and have spent time behind everything they make....

No worries Kino,

The pic posted is slightly dated and the rifle as pictured has the Surfire break on it. I was dissuaded from going the Surefire route and switched out the Surefire break for a SAS TOMB break to fit the new suppressor.

It worked out well ...

AHHH you make me very happy.. I looked at both the SAS and the TB 30P

I went with the SAS "HOPEFULLY" my can will be here in late Dec / early Jan. I just got my .22 toy can earlier this week. I'm really looking forward to putting the SAS on my new GAP-10.

Well the story continues. I decided the take the plunge as they say and traded the AI/AE covert for AI/AW. The folks at MileHigh were great and made me an offer I could not refuse. I'm just sorry that I didn't do this 20 years ago ...

They cut and threaded the 24" AI Barrel down to 20" and installed the SAS TOMB mount muzzle break.

Rifle specs:
AI/AW .308
20" AI barrel 1:12 twist
S&B 3-12
Spur Mount w/9 Mils cant. (sorry for the crappy iPhone photos ... ):

What is most impressive is how the gun shoots with or without the SAS installed. Here is a 6-shot group 3 with and 3 without the SAS installed at 100 yards w/FGMM:

Here is an interesting video of a MileHigh supplied SAS (TOMB) on a 20" .338 AX out to 1,300 - 1,400 yards (you can skip ahead to 13:38 to see the results of adding the SAS can on the rifle at that distance). Their results are similar to mine but more impressive:

Looks great! I am still waiting for my Arbiter to clear and can't wait. I went with SAS because they were in stock at Mile High compared to at least a 5-6 week wait to manufacture from Thunder Beast.

Thunder Beast's CS was straight forward and very helpful as was Mile High's CS in my opinion.

Once the SAKO Lapua was set up with the Night Force NSX I dialed it in at 250 yds shooting a pumpkin. My son came out after hearing the noise. It is a loud weapon. I asked him to shoot to see if my set up would work for another. He shot. The openings overlapped <1/2". It was like the William Tell arrow split.

I shoot SAS arbiter on three bolt guns (qd break). 308 and 260 no poi change, 7wsm only 0.2 mil up and right. I think this is remarkable. I am either real lucky or Suppressed Armament Systems makes real quality products. I think the later is true! Great quality, great price, very quiet. What's not to like?
