I'm a long time lurker but finally decided to post some pics. Sold my old PBR and got my new rifle this week. I could use some work on my part but the hardware is top notch. This thing is almost boring w/how well it shoots the FGMM ammo. It was getting dark by the time I was ready to go to 200yds and the range was closing so hopefully this weekend I can get out farther than 100.

specs...

FN SPR A5
Leupold Mark4 Med Rings
Leupold Mark4 4.5x14x50
bedding at lug/tang
shot from bipod w/rear bag

The 3 shot grups were much more impressive but I wanted to see how close I could get w/o taking too much time between shots (tried 6-8 shot groups). All were at 100yards w/FGMM 168 ammo.

top: 8 shots
left: 6 shots
bottom: 4 shots

Re: New FN SPR A5

I got my A1 about two months ago- I put the Lupe 6.5-20X 50 on top with a sunshade. Last Tues. I had three three shots groups less than .310 best was .279. The week before was similar with the 3 shot groups. I put up an 8 shot group at .719. Love the FN's! The one I got was number 155 of the original batch. My brother has number 62. His best so far is .211. Awesome!!

Re: New FN SPR A5

very nice to go out there in one of your first times out and have such great success! FN makes some great rifles and I have been very happy with them. I own 3 myself (A1A, A2, A5M) and hope to get an A3G one day...

Re: New FN SPR A5

Well I went out again today. I only did 3 shot groups so I won't post pics but my best 100 yd group measured .2 moa and my 200 yd group measured .55 moa. So far I'm pretty happy. I got one those TAB bags from riflesonly.com and that makes it really easy to get a steady shot.

Re: New FN SPR A5

FN SPR's are indeed fine rifles.....I was looking through my data book and found an early entry were shots 11,12 and 13 were grouped at .100 (witnessed) back in 2004. Now days, the rifle has a 1000 rounds through it, my eyes are much older, and the groups have opened up to .2-.25 at 100 yards.

Not bad for a mass produced rifle.

Enjoy your rifle with confidence!

Hahaha.

I like that big freaking claw on the bolt too. Not even a hiccup when I pierced a primer my last time out.

My Savage would have been done for the day.

Re: New FN SPR A5

Big time bump for the FNs Ive had my SPR A1 for just under a year, supper tough Winchester 70 style action (mauser). I have alot to learn still, but buying the best off the shelf gun I could at the time was a great desision. It still has the SWFA 20x42, I would like to think that my shooting could match what the rig is capible of, but it just gives me a goal to always work for.

Re: New FN SPR A5

I was looking at custom actions when I started reading all the good press on the SPR. I picked up some actions from CDNN just before they ran out and am looking forward to doing several custom builds of my own. I do wish the high-end barrel-makers would offer chrome lining, though, because these .3 MOA @ 8000 round rifles are really impressive.

thats where I was. For what you get, you can't beat the price/performance. I paid $1650 for this (NIB). It would cost me almost $900 just for the stock (i'm local to Mcmillan so I pay sales tax). I couldn't argue w/either of those numbers nor the .45moa test target that came w/the rifle. It far exceeds even the test target that it came with. Best 3 shot group to date was .2moa w/FGMM.
