I'm an old (nearly 70), out of practice varmint hunter looking to get back in the game now that I'm retired. Past experience was mostly hunting groundhogs at 200-450 yards with an occasional opportunity at +600 (most of which were misses). I was shooting a Mark V .257 Weatherby, 26" barrel, Leupold 10X AO fixed power scope. I figured that if I was going to try it again I needed a better rifle, so I bought a Savage 12LRPV in 6mm Norma BR and an Athlon Argos BTR Gen2 6-24x50 scope. My shop area is unheated and poorly lit, so I have yet to get the rifle put together ... and it's been so long, I don't have rifle primers or powder. In the meantime I'll read here and try to learn how to do this the right way this time.
