I finally finished assembling my new AR9 and I put about 150 rounds through this weekend. It is having issues with mag retention, as in I need to smack the bottom of the mag pretty hard for it to click in place. Also the bolt tends to skip over the magazine and not chamber a round. I have yet to figure out what is causing this as once I get one in the chamber it feeds flawlessly it’s only trying to get the initial round in the chamber is when it has issues. Does any have any suggestions or experience with this type of issue? Thanks.

What's your buffer set up ?? The mag issue, from a closed bolt ?
I’m using a pistol weighted buffer, but I don’t think that’s the issue as I’m getting good ejection to my 3 o’ clock. As far as the mag issue, there is no last round bolt hold open so it’s always a closed bolt when inserting a mag.

Sounds like you might just have a mag fit issue. The lower is supposed to fit properly and drop free with HK factory mags, but if you have to do a hard tap just to get it seated, something is keeping it from getting as high up into the magwell as it should. Does this happen with empty mags or only loaded mags?

It happens with both full and empty mag, new frontier suggested I get a different bolt but I don’t completely agree with that. Once it actually picks up a round and puts it in the chamber it will shoot the whole mag with no issue. it’s only getting the first round to chamber and for the mag to seat that is causing issues.
