First post here and want to give a big thanks to the wealth of information available in this community, some pretty sharp folks around here.

I am getting ready to order a GAP-10 from the fine people over at GA Precision. Ken over there and the information picked up here made the decision a no-brainer IMHO. I would appreciate some sage advice from anyone who can offer it on the setup I order though.

1. I am definetely going with Ken's advice on the upgraded stock.
2. I will be using an EoTech 512 with 3X Mag or an ACOG on it. I also have a Nightforce 3.5X15 that may make its way on her.

This will be my first weapon with a supressor on it, so this is one of my questions I need advice on. I am looking at the AAC 762 SDN-6 and the Titanium Q.D. Phantom 7.62 What are your opinions on the better of the two? +s or -s of the two?
With this in mind, I am leaning towards the 18" barrel. What, if any, threads should I ask for. Do both of these cans use the same threads for the QD mount?
Thanks in advance for any help, it is greatly appreciated!

Re: New GAP-10 setup

I dont have much input on the supressors. I own a SAS Arbitor that works great.

However, if youre going to spend the money on a fine GAP-10 why would you handicap youself by using an EOTech or an ACOG? Limiting any kind of performance you would see out of the rifle.

Toss em both and mount the Nightforce.

Re: New GAP-10 setup

Ordered My GAP-10 yesterday; 18" barrel, upgraded Magpul stock, and sending them the QD attachment for the Fantom Ti can. Cannot wait! I am going to put my NF 3.5X15 scope on it as well.

Re: New GAP-10 setup

Nice! I just purchased my first can and while researching, I narrowed my choices to the TBAC 30BA, SAS Ti, and YHM Phantom Ti. I believe all of these cans are great performers. I ultimately went with the TBAC, but I don't think you can go wrong with the Phantom, especially when considering performance vs. cost.

Good luck!

Re: New GAP-10 setup

That TBA looks nice! I have never fired supressed and am looking forward to it. My bolt gun is a .300 WBY with a muzzle brake by Answer Systems. That is the complete opposite of anything quiet LOL.
Next up is to find the bipod that is preferred. Looking at Harris and GG&G.

Re: New GAP-10 setup

I was also considering a yhm phantom in ti, but last week they admitted to me they are pretty backordered on just their titanium cans. I have no dog in the fight, but just make sure you take that into account as it could make a long wait(believe me) even longer. Unless of course you find a dealer that has one on the shelf.

SAS, and TBAC both have pretty good reputations on here for poi shift from what I can tell. They will be my top choices when I drop the cash on one.

...and +1 on the nightforce. Why limit a highly customized precision instrument with an acog or eotech? If you wanted a battle rifle you could throw one of those optics on a shorty RRA or something similar that costs half as much!

Re: New GAP-10 setup

@ Clank, ordered her in a .308.
@ verdugo60, I am pretty much decided on the YHM at this point. It will be a month or so before I can even order it (daughter's wedding this month). I am definitely going with my nightforce scope, clear as a bell and a light gathering machine. I will contact nightforce about putting a new reticle in her though as I have the NP1 in it.
Thanks for the suggestions and input, snipershide is a damn fine place for info!

Re: New GAP-10 setup

Great choices on your gear. You will love that can...i run a 30P-1 on my rig and it stops other people from shooting just so they can come watch and listen.

Re: New GAP-10 setup

I was reading in the supressor forum threads on SAS and TBA cans. I called and talked to Stacy @ Mile High and have decided to spend a little more and go with the SAS setup from them. I will probably send him my 300WBY and let him set it up for the same can.

Re: New GAP-10 setup

Good choice cornholeo, you will love that setup. I have learned a ton on this site too, amid the troll and mall ninjas there are some real pro's on here. Hanging out here tempts me to spend a lot of $ though.

Re: New GAP-10 setup

A few makers discourage the use of ti cans on a semi.
Something about heating them up that the titanium doesn't like.
I'd go with any AAC cans for a semi.
I have heard if they use a titanium allow they will hold up just fine.
Pure titanium are the ones that were eroding quickly under high heat conditions.

I may be way off on this, but I know I talked to one maker and he told me that it wasn't good to heat them up that it eroded the baffles. Thunderbeast says it's fine with their ti cans on their website.

I have I think every AAC can made. I have had my old Ranger and M42000 glowing more times than I can count. I've ripped off several 200 round belts with my Ranger can on and they keep on going.

You won't go wrong with AAC cans. The SD is a great choice.

Re: New GAP-10 setup

She's finally here and what a beauty she is! I am glad I went with the advice from here and Ken at GA Precision, what an incredible weapon! I will post pics when I get the scope mounted this week. The guys and gals at Mile High did a nice job on the QD brake as well for the can. Thanks again for the help and recommendations!

Here she is! Nightforce 3.5X15X56 and Atlas Bipod. SAS Quick detach brake from Mile High Shooting is just waiting on the can.

Broke her in today and she is incredible! Damn fine work from GA Precision and Mile High.
