First time poster, but long time reader
Why is the barrel spec'd to 8.7 twist?

My question to Berger:
I have been reading abou the 6.5 SAUM 4S that GA Precision is using in their Xtreme Hunter rifle

George Gardner is using a 8.7 twist barrel.
Your website recommends 8 twist.
Does higher velocity make the need for a fast twist less?
Berger Repy:
"Thank you for taking the time to contact us at Berger Bullets. *Bullet velocity does not have the impact on stability that some people would have some believe. *Our testing indicates that the rotational velocity does have a much greater impact on bullet stability than bullet velocity will. *Saying this, you should still be okay with the 1:8.7” twist. *The only way to know for sure, however, is to try some of the bullets in question, and you will have to let load testing, and evaluation, be your guide in determining the final outcome of your needs."
