After planning for a couple of years now, I have finally made a decision on my first tactical precision rifle. I ordered a GAP 10 and am needing some advice on a scope. For the money, it looks as though the Nightforce is the way to go. I am looking at the 3.5-15. Here are my questions...
1) Is this a good variable magnification for the 308? I want to eventually shoot out to 800 or 1000 yards though it will be few and far between at that distance. I would imagine that three to four hundred yards will be much more common.
2) Is the zero stop feature worth the extra cash?
3) What reticle would you recommend? I am looking at the mil-dot. Is it hard to get accustomed to?
4) Is a lighted reticle worth the extra cash?
5) What would the benefits be in going with a first plane focus over the second plane focus?
6) The gun will ship with Badger Ordnance rings. Would I be better served by buying a LaRue mount for the scope?
7) Any other brands that I should look at? Any other ideas?
