After planning for a couple of years now, I have finally made a decision on my first tactical precision rifle. I ordered a GAP 10 and am needing some advice on a scope. For the money, it looks as though the Nightforce is the way to go. I am looking at the 3.5-15. Here are my questions...

1) Is this a good variable magnification for the 308? I want to eventually shoot out to 800 or 1000 yards though it will be few and far between at that distance. I would imagine that three to four hundred yards will be much more common.
2) Is the zero stop feature worth the extra cash?
3) What reticle would you recommend? I am looking at the mil-dot. Is it hard to get accustomed to?
4) Is a lighted reticle worth the extra cash?
5) What would the benefits be in going with a first plane focus over the second plane focus?
6) The gun will ship with Badger Ordnance rings. Would I be better served by buying a LaRue mount for the scope?
7) Any other brands that I should look at? Any other ideas?

1. Yes, pick a reticle to help you out here.
2. Yes
3. Are you looking mil or moa? I like the NP-R1
4. I believe all of them come with the lighted reticle....
5. Search on here, PLENTY of different threads on it
6. Get whatever you like
7. I get tired of these retarded questions over and over and fucking over again. Hit your search button and have fun.....

I have two NF comapct 2.5-10x24....MilDot, MOA/MOA and zero stop. Great scopes for the AR and plenty of mag to get out to 1000yds.

You can still find these if you look but the 2.5-10x32 is almost identical (maybe a little better in low light?) and easier to find.

PS. Keep asking the questions combined with a judicious use of the search function....we all had to start somewhere.

How do you have MOA/MOA with a mildot reticle?? Just kiddin bro, I know what you meant.
NF F1 3.5-15x50 MIL/MLR2 would be a good scope if you want NF. new IOR SNipersHide editions are pretty nice as well...
Do a search, it will help you more than stupid questions

Re: New gun coming...need advice on scope choice

Thanks guys for your responses. The "flagrant" responses are probably due. I know better to do a search first from past experiences on other forums. I have decided upon the NXS 3.5-15 F1 Mil-dot reticle with the mil knobs (after reading information doing a search of course). Thanks for everyones help.
