Rifle Scopes NEW GUY 10BA WHAT SCOPE?

can you help me out
i finally have my savage 10ba coming in on monday
ive never shot with a scope just a 4x on my ar's
what would be a good scope
500 yards at most
no elevation change im in FL
i was thinking of the burris eliminator for $699
but would go as high as $1500..

NF, SS, IOR, Vortex, Zeiss, Bushnell, Leupold, etc (in no particular order). Research the offerings by these guys.

Do you need FFP or SFP?

How much magnification are you looking for?

Fixed power or variable?

What reticle? I suggest matching turret and reticle.

Will you every shoot further?

How much elevation travel might you need if you do shoot further?

44, 50 or 56mm objective? Is light gathering going to be a necessity.

Will most of you shooting be a known ranges or at unknown distances?

All things to think about.

With $1500, I would keep my eyes peeled for a slightly used Nightforce NXS, in the classifieds here on the 'hide.

Scopes are a VERY well covered topic here, as this hobby mandates good optics. I suggest you use the search function and do some reading - to educate yourself.

There are many reticles to choose from, choice of MOA or MIL adjustments, high or low speed turrets, zero-stop or not...

There are many, facets and factors that go into this, so read up. Once you *think* you're 99% of the way to an informed choice, post again and we can help you better.

For reference: You are currently 1% of the way to an informed choice.
