New guy from Oregon

New here. Looks like the place to be for great info! I live in Southern Oregon, 56 years young. I have been shooting since I was a kid and have over the years been stretching out my 'old, reliable' Rem 721 .270 win to it's limits. Now I am building a new LR rifle, so any advice-input welcome! This is where I am starting:

Remington 700 .300 winmag
Mcree Precision stock
will be adding a Precison Armament brake
Optics-undetermined at this point.
