So... I've been a long time firearm enthusiast, with a passion for anything that goes "bang". I first started in a local bullseye pistol league when I lived in Wisconsin. I later moved on to IDPA/USPSA competition, and recently my focus had been on NFA stuff and collecting rare HK pistols. Apparently, I got the itch for another learning opportunity, and began a bunch of homework in the LR rifle arena. As a fairly educated firearm enthusiast, I was blown away by just how much I have to learn in this space.

Thank you to all who have contributed to the content of this site! You helped guide me a bit in some of the choices I made for my first bolt gun.

It's essentially a Surgeon CSR with a longer barrel and different muzzle brake. Details... Surgeon 591 short action .308 with a Jewell trigger in an AI AX chassis. It's sporting a Night Force NXS 5.5-22x50 in a NF one piece 20 MOA mount (already had both) with an Atlas bipod supporting the 20" Krieger barrel, and capped off with a Surefire brake and can.

It seems there are a good number of AZ fellas on the site, and I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can... I have much to learn and figure you'll all accelerate my learning curve!

Sorry for the bad iPhone pics.

That rig looks like it's a great shooter!

Just picked the rifle up and moved everything else from an MR762... so I haven't fired the Surgeon yet. I'm certain it will outperform me!
Put me behind a pistol, AR pattern rifle, sub gun, or LMG... and I'm confident in my abilities. I have much to learn in the LR bolt gun arena. That's why I'm here!!

What part of the state are you in? Do you shoot uspsa at rio? If so see you there. Also if you're into shooting comps we have a long range precision match at phx rod and gun each month. Just had the match this morning but it's every 3rd sat. Your rifle will fit right in. Welcome

Welcome to the hide, what part of the state are you in? There a number of people on the west side, but it seems likely lately there are a lot of people from the east valley popping up on here. Nice rifle, once it cools down I'll be getting out to the desert a lot more to go ring some steel.

Used to live in Las Sendas (my avatar pic was from my back yard on the West side of Usery mountain), so shot at Rio all the time!
Moved to Scottsdale recently, and I realize how spoiled I was five minutes from Rio.

I'm sure I'll end up spending some time at PHX Rod & Gun, but I need to spend some time building proficiency in basic LR skills.

Gotta start somewhere, I wouldn't be too worried about honing skills "before" you make a appearance. I haven't seen to much shit talk at the ranges around here "unless" you come out on the forum and say you were part of seal team 00 and killed Osama while simultaneously making a sandwich. Then you might have a bad time. I'll be out there embarrassing myself as soon as my Leupy gets and I mount it.
