First off let me say thanks I have been lurking for several days and even posted in the WTT section (prob should have posted here first..sorry guys) I stumbled on the site during a search for magazines. I just picked up a Savage Axis in .308 NIB for next to nothing. Figured I would use this as a "weak" start into something I have been wanting to learn how to do for some time (long rage shooting). I am Active duty USN doing the submarine thing and have been around guns almost my whole life. I just never shot outside the 200-300 yd stuff before and even that is rare. I found this place looking for larger mags for the savage and decided I really enjoy what i have found so here I am. I will post a pic of the new toy if required but lets face it from what i have seen so far it is not really worthy of what you guys are mostly running with. Thanks in advance for all the knowledge I will be gaining here with you all.

Welcome to the Hide. The nice thing about Savage riles is that you can hit the ground running for only a small investment. You mentioned that you were looking for magazines, are you primarily a gas gun or pistol shooter? Where do you shoot?
Right now I am a member at norwich fish and game. No rifles under 22 there though. I use it mostly for pistol, I am looking for a place for rifle right now, lost the use of some land recently. As far as the savage so far I have a buck into it and thats it.

I used to be very active with Ledyard Fire co untill I transferred back to a boat. I am rotating back to shore next month and I am desperate for a place to shoot a rifle. Lats time I asked I was told Ledyard was not accepting new members and that was with me being very active with the fire dept.
