Hello all, new all around here. New to these forums, new to long range shooting and new gun to boot. I've heard of gun site hills in North Ga and thinking about setting up a trip over that way after this holiday to do my barrel break in. I am wondering who if any of you shoot out there or for that matter any other local ranges convienant to the north burbs of Atlanta?

I've been there a couple of times. Call first and make an appt. Chief runs a tight range so be prepared to follow his rules closely.

Dunno about ranges but you have a world class smith in your back yard named Jered Joplin @ APA in Jefferson.

Cherry Ridge has their Tactical Match this Saturday. I am going to give it a try.

Can anyone provide some current updates as to how this works?

Are you sure rear sand bags are not allowed? Is round count still 20 for each relay? Can you do this event solo? Can someone shed a little more light on how the cold bore shot works? I understand that the cold bore shot is a test of your knowledge of your rifle, but where is the cold bore shot and sighters placed on the target?

Holepunch- I know your post is a month old, but I just shot the 'deer rifle' shoot at River Bend Gun club in Dawsonville. It's more of a fun shoot, instructional type shoot rather than a match, but I really enjoyed it. We shoot 200/300/600 yards. Very nice range and good folks. Every third Saturday. Probably half an hour north of you.

Creekside Range in Taylorsville is GTG, Owner is big into tactical marksmanship and host several events a year.

Wed is a members only Long Distance day. They also open the Long Distance to everyone at differents times of the week.

Just another good option.

Thanks for the tips on these. I was invited to join a club around here that had very reasonable fees, offered 24/7 access.Cant find the PM and for the life of me cant remember the name of the club either.

Love shooting at gun site hills, Just shot at Hard Rock for the first time this past friday. Live in Newnan but travel as far as between hard rock and GSH.
