No idea either, very odd. But you can read the announcement. Apparently it has something to do with New Jersey's state laws and its State Police managing it. Who knows? But it is happening.

Bradybunch law requires background check. States can have their own or use the fed system. GA uses the fed system (did not make their own background check system) and looks like NJ has its own.

I wonder (though I highly doubt) if their law is written that if someone isn't disapproved in a certain time frame, that the FFL may release the firearm to the buyer? That would prove interesting.

it's as bad as the dopes who wait until the day before hunting season opens to go out, buy a rifle, and then ask the clerk to "bore sight it so I can go out tomorrow".

Same with the first time panic buyers. last week you wanted to ban guns. now you're running out to buy one, and at some point during the quarantine you'll accidentally shoot your cat.

Lemmings should have planned ahead.

This is how I've been looking at it. Lack of preparation on other people's parts isn't an emergency. We're busy dealing with a pandemic. If it isn't food or medical, it's not essential. People need to stop going out and spreading disease.

Indeed. I think that's a marvelous weapon to beat folks over the head with as liberties are trampled for the greater good.
I'm certainly not shocked you said that.

It’s the state portal side he’s shutting down. So FFL licensees can’t transfer to the public. I’m not making a case for it, just saying he’s not controlling the fed.

For my state, you’d have to be able to transmit the transferees data first, receive a “delay”, then after not receiving a response(in a specified time) can you release it. By removing the utility for that transmission, you’re stuck
