So from Captain Mom Jeans' powerpoint, it sounds like the same Kestrel, with 'adjustable power' bluetooth and preloaded gun profiles noone will ever fucking use. As a standalone unit, honestly, there's only so much they can do; they do it well, but at some point that DA reading isn't getting any fucking better.

Wake me up when Kestrel/ballistic apps (hardware & software people)/LRF manufacturers get together and stop with all their proprietary bullshit and instead make a system that seamlessly connects so I push a fucking button and it tells me WTF to do.

Also, it has a larger capacitor! Don't forget that part! Although, how that actually allows it to run a different solver and make it future proof is beyond me? LOL....

I bet it wouldn't be too hard for them to make a rifle mounted rangefinder that also gives ballistic data.

I was thinking the same thing. Only thing I can think of is that they are using a supercapacitor to provide more energy storage to allow a more complex solver to run on existing hardware but that is a stretch

I really think it's starting to get to the point where it's "hey let's add things and new profiles no one really asked for!" I agree with above, what I'd rather see is more cross talk between devices.

The 5700x is a gov bid. ESSO is part of a applied ballistics project relative to the defense industry.
No idea if that is coming to the regular market.

That was exactly what I figured it was about reading the slide. Preloaded profiles for issued military rifles/ammo combos sounds like a good selling point for those guys, especially if you can always get them back by a factory reset.

That’s pretty much all it is, but with specific testing and Modeling to increase accuracy to the cunt hair as far out as possible is the goal.

Its funny, tons of people don’t even take advantage of all of the modeling features in the current 5700. “Turn off spin drift, set Wind 0 to 0 mph, leave firing direction to 12 o’clock, change your velocity to true your dope, etc”. What are they going to do with an advanced solver that uses custom drag models and spin rate decay to more accurately predict changes in BC / drag and spin drift down range? LOL

Kestrel 5700 Elite w/ Link, Sig 3000BDX, Kestrel HUD.

LRF the target, LRF sends the range to the Kestrel 5700, Kestrel 5700 send the solution to the rifle mounted HUD. This already exists. Shipping this month.

Any LRF that can pair with the Kestrel an be used.

I know I've already said this a bunch but Garmin biffed it by not having cross talk between it and kestrels. That would have also worked to have as a HUD.

Yep right here I don't think I ever messed with settings beyond wind and come ups when truing my data.

Between this and the new accuracy 1st firmware being added in an update where it preprograms some parameters for you and the MV Slope I don't know what to make of it....I just wish there was a way to swap between the AB Engine and 4DOF.
