New Kestrel?

So as some of you may know I had all my gear stolen and now get to go through the fun process of replacing it. I was shopping around looking at Kestrel's and notice that there is a newer looking one now. I remember talking to them at SHOT and they said their would be a newer version of the 4500nv coming out (not the AP one). Just a basic update, larger screen, better battery life, and I thought new button layout. Obviously since I'm going to buy another I'd like it to be the newer model but I haven't heard anything about this other then what was said at SHOT show.

So does anyone know?

What I'm saying is that they told me they were going to "revise" the current models of the Kestrel and give it a bit of a refresh. Again I'm NOT talking about the Applied Ballistics one.

They said the regular Kestrel's were going to get a new button layout, better battery life, and slightly larger screen. This was supposed to happen sometime this year. This is what I'm asking about.

Haven't heard anything about it and Google isn't brining up anything regarding a revision to the 4500NV.

I'm interested in hearing whether there are plans for an update. Give them a call to confirm and report back.

I just got new 4500 NV's in yesterday and they have the same button configuration.

So maybe they did a software update on them.

I doubt that they will change the button layout as all the models use the same layout and they would have to cast a new injection mold for the changes which is big bucks. But who knows.

I hope a strong wind kicks up and the impeller from your old Kestrel breaks free from the unit decapitating the thief.

Good afternoon. Sorry to hear about the theft. To answer your question though, the actual "refresh" for the K4500 regular units will be happening in 2014. This refresh will include many of the features you mentioned among others. The units that you have pictured above are still just the standard 4500 units but with "tactical dress". My 4000nv is the most incredible piece of kit and who ever built it really went well beyoned the required specs,

J, if I were you I would just get the regular 4500 NV. It has all the critical data you need. And for your ballistics, you can use your PDA or the like. Since you probably still have one of those, and save yourself the extra $200 or whatever the new price is.

+1 Amen, with the BT and what ever else is running in the background on the all singing models the Batteries will last longer with the standard 4000NV range, Not that theres anything wrong with the the AP or Horus models theres just no point in buying another App based gadget,

[MENTION=19738]jcvibby[/MENTION], I have just done some tests on my 4000nv and I just took the lithium Batteries out to check them after I was going over some older threads regarding batteries and It is absolutely PERFECT Inside the Batteries have been in there since I bought it (about 4 months ago) AND Yes I use it everyday, Anyway it still held all the data that it has been recording since june the 16th @15:00 hrs and with the time all i had to do was re-set the seconds on the clock and since around April it has not lost or gained 1 second, What an Amazing piece of Kit Oh yeah and the Batteries still read 100%

Well I'd say that if it is a Blue Tooth model then they should be able to do it for a small fee, but doubt if they would, But It wont hurt to ask them.
