New match backpack

I'm looking for a new match backpack. What do you run or recommend. What is some gear you find really helps you get through matches. (Not talking about shooting bags) . Im wanting to get more organized as im going to try and attend some bigger matches this year. Any input will help. Thanks in advance!

I been running the dragons egg this year. I feel its a little cramped so I just bought an X31 lodrag from a the px here. I carry a large heavy(16 lb) bag and I am gonna put it on bottom and my ammo on the shelf above it.

I'm going to be getting one of those ones with the almost hard compartment on the bottom sized big enough for a couple ammo boxes or my rear bag. The top is a separate compartment that'll contain my snacks and various other tiddly bits. And the sides have compartments for whatever else.

My current backpack is something work gave me on my first day and it's sectioned out just perfectly for a PRS backback. It's just not green or camo so...

I have found no better way to carry the (heavy) rifle for distances. Easy in and easy out of there is a hike between stages, and it's a big pack with plenty of room.

Does the usability of the hard shell pack outweigh the weight of it? That's my only drawback is how heavy that thing is.

I have a lodrag II and a phantom. both amazing packs and work well for match use.

a guy in my squad at the last match had that exact same eberlestock pack you mention above. ive never seen it before and he let me check it out and its awesome. im literally ordering one . its called the Eberlestock Upranger.

I haven’t used my KUIU pack at a match, just for hunting. I see no reason you couldn’t though. I just have an old pack I keep all my match stuff in, and leave hunting gear in my KUIU. However I did make a double kneeling, shot on a running caribou using my KUIU 2200 frame as a rest last month. So maybe I should start using it in matches .

I got rid of a eberlestock that weighed less just for that reason. Carrying a heavy bag around gets old pretty quick at a match.

I’ll probably get burned cause it don’t cost $400, but I’ve had good luck with this Red Rock backpack. Kestrel, pens and shit go in the top front. Bino’s go in the front bottom. Ammo and mags go in the middle compartments, shooting bags and tools go in the back. I’ve got a smaller one I use as a carry on for flights. I’ve had it for a couple years now and it’s held up great.

I have the little brother as part of the SkyCrane system. I use the Skycrane alone for hauling heavy loads, the Little Brother for the large matches as it packs down and has lots of options. I've carried them together as part of an exercise regimen.... loaded with weights, sand bags, gear, blocks.... whatever is handy.

This is the pack I use for the smaller, local matches and is my main go-to-the-range shooting bag. Its just right for the shooting gear, but can get a bit cramped if you have to take a day of snacks, water, rain gear, etc. along for a full day's hiking away from the vehicle.
Both are good options.

As Fehu Outdoors I have been working on building a modular match backpack. So far this is the prototype I have built myself. I will be working on a V2.0 in the next month and will have a few available to purchase before March 21. No definite set price yet but expect something around $350 with options to choose what zipper pouches you want included in the kit. It easily holds enough gear for any one or two day rifle match. It also opens in various methods to make it easier to get to your gear. You can lay it all the way open and have a clean space to work on repairs.
The V2.0 will have bottle pockets and lashing options on the outside sides for tripod carry and added pick-up/carry handles on all four sides. Some adjustment to the mesh internal zipper pockets so they are easier to use and webbing moved down so you can clip your large bags on the outside.

They are on there. This v1.0 pack actually used a backboard with a detachable gun belt for carrying a pistol holster. The V2.0 will be many more of a day pack and have just a simple waist belt but definitely included a sternum clip.

Did you add anything to the pack?
I'm debating between the little brother and F53 tomahawk.
I plan on using it for matches and hunting.

I have been looking at the Eberlestock F3F FAC Track Pack. A bunch of the PRS guys I shoot with have it and recommend it. All have said it is a good size and organization. And of course it is Elerlestock quality.
