Hey everyone, I've been a long term lurker and first off want to thank everyone for all of their insight. I just purchased a used GAP Crusader in 308 with a 1:11.25 and would like to hear from you guys on ammo selection. I'm not currently set up to reload so I'll be purchasing ammo. This is for paper and steel from 100-900 yards. I've been looking at the FGMM from Palmetto State Armory and am leaning towards the 175 grain. They have two types listed, one is the 7.62 x 51 and the other is in .308 and is BTHP...the BTHP is slightly cheaper, should I go for the BTHP or the standard match? Is there a difference in accuracy when you go the hollow point route? Forgive my ignorance, I come from a competive pistol and AR background. And if I posted in the wrong spot, please forgive me.

Re: New member, new GAP

Congrats on the GAP and becoming a member..... FGMM 175's have always shot well for me... and they are Boat Tail Hollow Points. I bet that Crusader will eat any "match ammo" you feed it and spit it out pretty well.

Thank you, I'm as giddy as a school girl. I still have to wait the 10 days here in California. That's just more time for me to buy more stuff. I think heroin may be a cheaper habit.

All my GAP rifles shoot 1/2 moa or better no matter what, with any type of match ammo, any day even if the moon and stars are not in line.
So buy and just shoot my friend!
they are as good as a 20 dollar prostitute, they will take anything. lol

As long as it doesn't burn when I pee, each range outing will be a success.

Re: New member, new GAP

FGMM is about the best factory match ammo. i use the 168s inside 700 yds and the 175s for longer work. Can't beat the prices at Palmetto. Black Hills is very good, Corbon is great. Southwest ammo is usually a little better, especially at distances greater than 600 yds and the prices are good.

Re: New member, new GAP

+1 jpspeeddemon. I just ordered 400 rounds of FGMM from Palmetto. Best prices I have found on the stuff.
$17.99 for 168's
$18.99 for 175's

About the best deal out there...
