Got me a new toy on the way, been wanting to try out the 5-25 ATACR F1 Mil-C but couldn't decide between it and the Minox... The Minox was out of stock so I figured I'd get this one in and give it a good once over and see how I like it.... Anyone else had the chance to get behind this reticle yet? How do ya like it?

I like it more and more every time I use it as I said before so much better than the MIL-R I had in the BEAST. I was spotting for a friend with it a couple weeks ago and it was a lot easier calling corrections and tracking has been spot on with the ATACR. I have no regrets and would buy it again. Let us know what you think after you get some time behind yours.
Looking forward to your review. I think it could be the best reticle NF has ever put out. I am chomping at the bit for NF to put it in the 4-16 ATACR and then I will get one.
I know right, I wish my 4-16 had it instead of the Mil-R.. I am not crazy about paying like 600 bucks for a reticle swap neither.... I really wish they would have incorporated the Christmas tree into it as well, that would have really set it off...
I am not a fan of Christmas tree reticles so I am happy. They could of went the way Kahles did with their SKMR 1 and SKMR 3, two different variants so one could pick.
I like the tree reticles, especially the SKMR3 in the Kahles, but I hate the parallax adjustment where it's located... Mostly for quick follow up shots with the reticle...
The Mil-R was the only thing keeping me from owning an ATACR over my Vortex. When I saw Palmetto's post about this new NF reticle I sold my AMG as quick as I could. I have shot the new Mil-C twice now.. just out to 830yds and I am in love!

Exactly why they should have a selection rather than one or the other. I am not a competitor, and I dial range and hold wind for every shot unless the drop falls perfectly on a mil line (i.e. .6 mils). Now for PRS comp where you could easily be off on the range call (or the R.O. simply gives you an incorrect measurement), shooting without dialing, or just a fast correction, I feel a tree is an obvious choice and I would easily run one.
Also just placed an order for my Mil-C an hour ago. I might consider a 4-16 in Mil-R when the prices drop from desperate sales
I think I remember someone in Palmetto's post saying that NF was going to offer a reticle swap in the near future for guys who have the MIL-R. The price was something like $600 which is a better deal to me than selling your current scope at a loss, and then purchasing a new one.
I've been using the Mil-C for about a month or so now and I really like it. It's simple and clean, which is my preference in reticles and I'll buy a 7-35 if/when it's available with the Mil-C
I feel ya, mine is scheduled for Friday delivery... a downside to working in a hospital is long shifts so I won't be home to sign for it! 99% chance of waiting til Monday to pick it up from the local depot. I don't trust my neighbors, I already get weird looks when I haul 3 rifles cases out to the car..
Mine sat at my UPS Store mailbox for 12 days while I was on vacation and subsequently on a work trip before I could pick it up. That was rough.
When I ordered mine through Midway they didn't require a signature on the delivery for either the BEAST or ATACR I was checking the tracking about every 30 mins and as soon as it said "delivered" I hauled ass home and got them off the porch in both cases. Some places I order high dollar items form do require and some don't require a signature. You might want to check your tracking# I think it usually indicates somewhere in the "details" part of the tracking.
I already checked the tracking number, that is how I discovered the "signature required" part. I put in another call to Euro Optic and Josh was nice enough to change the delivery where I can just pick it up from the local hub tomorrow after work. Win/Win!
Received my ATACR yesterday, I really like the reticle and in my opinion, the eye box is better than the Schmidt I had and sent back... I also like the turrets way better than the Schmidt... I gotta spend some quality time with the optic but I'm pretty sure she's a keeper....
I don't wanna say yes just yet cause I've only had a limited amount of time looking through it... I will have to get some time with it first and get back to you.. so far everything looks good though from very minimal time with it.
I have put my deposit down on one and waiting for it to come in, I'm glad to hear everyone really likes the Mil-C! I also just bought my SPUHR mount for it as well, can't wait to get them both mounted!
So my first impression...Notice: THE FOLLOWING IS VERY SUBJECTIVE. I prefer the SKMR reticle in my Kahles way more than the Mil-C. Looking at them online didn't give me any concern, but getting behind the rifle with this scope... lol Whatever, it is a very functional reticle. I am a big fan of clean reticles and I think I am appreciating the SKMR a little more now.
Well guys, I hate to say this cause it disappoints me to.. I gotta send the NF back to Eurooptic, I really got to examining it thus evening and was looking through the optic as i ran the magnification up and down and discovered the reticle shifts while doing so.. My 4-16 ATACR doesn't do this, so I guess she goes back.. They told me I had a two week from delivery return period, what a bummer!!! Now it has me thinking about trying something different like the Minox MR4...

I know the question wasn't directed at me, but regarding mounts - I've always had my optics in Seekins rings, but snagged a SPUHR on a Memorial Day sale and I'm loving it!

Thanks! I can't take credit for the creation.. RBros Rifles did all the hard work... I just paid for it haha. The ATACR is the nicest scope I've ever owned. I was on a rollercoaster of optics starting with low end Vortex Viper scopes - moving to Razor HD scopes and finally being blown away by NF. Sucks that they disappointed you here, but hopefully you get the rifle squared away the way you want it to be soon. At least the turn around isn't too terribly long.
When it shifts is it shifting left to right, up & down, sideways? Just curious. I am sure you know what your doing, but I was thinking if you are holding the scope in one hand and turning the zoom ring with another as you are looking through it are you 100% sure the whole scope is not turning slightly in your hand? When it's mounted on a rifle obviously the scope rings and rifle are going to keep it from turning a lot more than just holding it in your hand? Please don't take this as I am questioning your experience or knowledge just trying to provide some food for thought just in case.
I know it, I have the NXS 8-32X56 so this ATACR with their new reticle can only be better!! Can't wait to get it in and mounted!
ICU22250 I'm sorry to hear you have to send your glass back in man. Gotta get them right though or it will just be a really expensive paper weight! Hope they get you squared away man.
I plan on mounting mine on a tracking jig this weekend and running mine. I will report if i have any issues.
I think I'd send it in for another one before jumping to another brand of scope altogether. You'll always wonder if it would have been great. I have the Minox ZP5 and is is good, but I think there are a lot of great features on the ATACR. Namely a ton of elevation adj. , very good turrets, great glass and a new reticle to evaluate. My scope ADD has me curious about the ATACR, especially for an ELR scope. So help me out, lol!
Trust me palmetto, it's the reticle shifting horizontally.. I had it in a very stable platform just to look it over good... I was very disappointed when I seen It jump, it would do it suddenly when moving throughout the magnification range... I'm just gonna send it back to Eurooptic and ask for a new scope in exchange since it's within the two week period, they can deal with NF on the turd one....

I can't lie I am usually the guy that will pull the one out of a thousand broken one off the shelf even after I go through the first two or three thinking I am getting the one in the back that hasn't been finger fucked......lol I am sure the next one will be GTG.
The reticle shift when adjusting magnification will not affect the zero (accuracy). It is the eyepiece moving, not the reticle. My guess is it's because the entire NF eyepiece turns rather than just the mag ring.
That's a good looking reticle, I like .2 mil hashes, and they've done a nice job (to my eye/brain combo) of creating a layout that facilitates "counting" the hashes intuitively (and thus quickly).
I know what you are saying, but you'd just have to see it to know what I'm talking about.. you can grab the eye piece and wiggle and it doesn't move, only when you are zooming in and out... it's like a quick pop, a jump suddenly the the left about a sixteenth of an inch... My 4-16 doesn't do this, cause I've checked it extensively.... The eye piece on the scope feels smooth and snug, but I guess it could be internal, it don't matter cause it bugs the shit out of me and it's not supposed to happen... lol... I just hope they have another one in stock to swap it with....
Not the first time this has come up in a NF scope (or any scope for that matter). I understand that it bugs you, I mean these scopes cost a f*@k of a lot of money. I'm just saying that it's very unlikely the movement you see is a shift of the reticle relative to the target. I'm sure they will square you away.
Yeah, I'm sure they will and your right, they do charge a shit ton of hard earned money for our toys... I know this isn't the norm and NF makes good shit... I'll be on the horn with Eurooptic first thing Monday morning trying to get my replacement on the way and get this one back to them...
