Rifle Scopes New Mil-C NF on the way!!

I liked the reticle pretty good, but decided I wanted a tree reticle a bit more, just felt like it was missing.. so after I returned my NF cause of the reticle shift issue, I took a refund and ordered a Minox ZP5 MR4 to try. I had always had some interest in them so we will see how it goes... I still really like NF and wouldn't hesitate to own a mil-c in the future.

I took mine out at 1,200 yards this last Sunday and had an 18" target. That crosshair is perfect for me, I really do like it a lot. I'll try to take some pictures through it next weekend when I take it out again.

i have been using mine out to 600 yards this past week, and the reticle has really grown on me. I still prefer the SKMR reticle in my old Kahles, as the Mil-C feels a lot busier around the center and with the .2 gaps on the vertical. If you have used a Horus or Tree reticle that is truly "busy", then the Mil-C won't bother you at all.

I will try to grab a picture when the cows move away from my target...

The MR4 reticle is probably the best one on the market now, and the scope is just awesome.
The Minox feels like a PMII without the tunneling and handles CA even better.

The Mil-C looks pretty damn nice too, but got zero experience with Nightforce. Have a Beast with Mil-R on the way tho, might change reticle to the Mil-C if the the scope is to my liking.

I am pretty set on getting ATACR 4-16X42 but I am having a tough time deciding between the mil-c and mil-r reticle, if they do put the mil-c in the 4-16. I like the center dot but the rest of the scope seems a bit cluttered and busy. I would love to see one in person.

I have the 4-16 F1 with MILR and I really like that scope a lot. A lot of people think the MILR is kinda plain or hard to figure out the gaps but honestly it is a very clean reticle and the open gaps are nice aiming points. Everyone tends to like open centers so why not open gaps on the horizontal? I am interested in the MILC as I like the layout but the MILR doesn't hold me back any.

I have had both the MIL-R and now I have the MIL-C and I like the MIL-C much better I don't find it cluttered in the least bit. I find it much easier to see my corrections either for myself or if I am spotting for someone. The MIL-R wasn't horrible, but for me the MIL-C works so much better. I posted some pics through the scope low and high magnification at 100yds and 600yds you can find the link to that thread at the beginning of this thread.

I liked the Mil-C, it's not cluttered to me, I just like a tree for quick follow up shots using the reticle.. If they put the Mil-C I'm the 4-16 I will own a second one, I love the locking elevation turret and it's compact size for a crossover rifle.. I already have one in the Mil-R, it doesn't hold me back, I just like the Mil-C much better...

Was shooting my 4-16 F1 to 700 on AR this morning. Fun stuff. I have a variety of xmas tree reticles and have used them for a long time but I've also come to appreciate a very clean view. My question is: when are you missing by so much in elevation that a quick correction with standard mil reticle doesn't work as good as an xmas tree? I've kind of wanted to post this as a separate topic. I know competitors might try to run a stage without dialing but how often? I'm just curious and I've shot a dedicated bdc tree reticle for about 10 yrs now, the DTR. Great reticle, there are just certain scenarios and rifles that I have where mil reticle is all I need and a little more versatile, particularly on my desert tech rifle. I run the DTR on my 6xc, EBR7 AMG on my desert tech and have the F1 on an AR right now.

I would say it's not a common thing, just when it's an unknown distance shot and you want that quick follow up shot.. 99% of the time I've got the Leica to range the target and the trusty Kestrel with me.. Like I said before, I liked the Mil-C and will own another one.. I'm trying out the Minox for both the reticle and the reviews about how amazing the glass is supposed to be.. I have also heard the same about the Schmidt PM II, but to be honest I didn't much care for the one I briefly had.. So the Minox is a curiosity purchase..

Having used both Mil-R and Mil-C with th 5-25 F1, I find I can be more precise with the Mil-R when it comes to shooting paper. The Mil-C seems a bit quicker to interpolate for follow ups but is just a bit more cluttered. I kind of find them both to be the 6 of one and half dozen of the other deal. No overwhelming difference or winner IMHO.

That's interesting because I feel with the center dot it would be easier to be more precise, but I haven't used a mil-c so I'm going based off pics.


Better to have it and not need it, than to not have it and say oh shit.....

I was never a big fan of the dots but it has grown on me. The difference in precision - to me anyway - is a tiny one. It's probably got more to do with me getting used to it.

I find the dot almost annoying for group shooting with both my Kahles and Nightforce. lol It is annoying to see the bullets hitting everything but the dot, but then again I am only a 0.75 moa shooter..
