Hey guys,

OnVirtus.com launched at the NRA Annual Meetings. It was started by Daniel Horner and includes a bunch of top names in the competitive shooting arena. It's kind of like Masterclass, but for shooting. The all-access pass allows you to watch the classes of all the instructors. There are several hours of video already loaded and there will be more to come in the near future.

For 20% off, use the coupon code Jake20 or Hodnett20 ... which makes the price $99.99 for the annual membership.

Personally, I am most excited about the classes from Jake Vibbert and Todd and Colby Hodnett... because of ALLLLL the long range

Check it out at OnVirtus.com.

I watched some of the videos while Daniel was proofing the website and I learned a lot of info immediately. The coolest aspect is that you can ask questions to the instructors and they'll reply to you and may create a class to further answer your question.

The initial instructor lineup includes Jerry Miculek, Shane Coley, Max Michel, Daniel Horner, Todd and Colby Hodnett, Lena Miculek, Jake Vibbert, Brandon Green, and True Pearce. Instructors that will be adding classes soon are Vincent Hancock, JJ Racaza, Eric Grauffel, James Henderson, and Kenda Lenseigne. There are more in the works... but not 100% finalized, so I can't say ;)

Please let me know if you have questions, and if I don't know the answer, I'll defer to Daniel.

Thanks,
Candice Horner

Sorry you guys feel that way.

Frank does a great job at covering all the bases-- written, video, and podcasts. Seeing as how this forum is the "Training/Classes" forum, it seemed relevant to post. Jake, Todd, and Colby are phenomenal instructors and that fact doesn't take away from Frank or what he does-- I'm a fan of them all.

I've been a member on here for several years, and enjoy reading the posts. In the past, I would rarely sign in because I would just read responses to topics I was interested in. But certainly, I'll hit up Frank since there is clearly a level of butthurt... I didn't expect it to be a problem considering this area is for posting about classes and training.

Against the rules or not, I'm glad you brought this to my attention. Any instruction from guys like Daniel or Jerry and I'm all ears. Anywhere I can see a teaser on content before forking the dollars over?

Yes, there are teaser videos/ trimmed videos on the OnVirtus FB page and the IG page. On IG, it's just @OnVirtus ... the FB link is: https://www.facebook.com/OnVirtus/

Thanks,
Candice

When do you guys expect there to be a good amount of precision rifle content up?

I could have missed it, but when clicking on precision instructors, I didn’t see much yet for classes. The hodnetts don’t have anything yet and there’s only a handful of videos from Jake.

While I think it’s a great idea, I’d suggest getting a lot more videos up before pushing this too much. I personally don’t mind spending the money (have franks, Jacob, and jakes online lessons already).

But, I’m not going to pay $100-$120 yet in something that barely has any lessons. Unless the table of contents isn’t up to date.

Good way to get the initial customer site visit, see not much except a lot of “coming soon,” and then the customer never coming back.

Also, I’d look into some alternate names. “OnVirtus” doesn’t really grab the attention of people looking for firearms instruction. Hell, I when I say “onvirtus” to myself, my brain doesn’t even associate it with anything, let alone rifle instruction.

I don’t mean any of this negatively. Just some initial observations.

Videos from the Hodnetts are complete but are being processed. So, they should be up on the site soon... I don't have an exact date, but will hit up the video director to ask. Yup... and there are more videos from Jake going up. Initially, the instructors will post 10 to 15 videos with their launch, some may post all at once (like Max did) or some may wait and post a new one a week. After the initial videos/classes for each instructor, the expectation is that each instructor will be posting new content every 2 to 4 weeks.

But yeah, I feel ya... I'm looking forward to the long range videos.

The name OnVirtus was selected for its origin, Virtus, which has strong roots to Ancient Rome. A non-shooting specific name was chosen because it provides the opportunity to feature other sports and disciplines. Daniel started with shooting because that's what he knows, but it will ultimately feature all types of outdoor related classes.

You may be onto something here, I've seen the name pop up several times over the last week and never once gave it any thought. Thought maybe it was some TacTimmy kneepads or something...

I don’t want to talk shit on what is likely a good thing. But marketing is marketing.

Random Latin word for virtue isn’t going to give any training recognition for anything at all.

Well.......people looking for Latin classes. That’s about it.

Cleared gtg through Frank.

Thanks, guys for your concern... I get it and am sorry if it came off in a crappy way.

Didn’t come off in a crappy way, per se. With a name like Miculek backing things, I’m sure it’s good stuff. I just didn’t want anyone running afoul of house rules, etc.

I’ll definitely take a look!

Thanks... I have a ton of respect for Frank and wouldn't want to step on any toes. So thank you for making sure I had the best intentions. I can't fault you for being a good dude and looking out for Frank (y) I appreciate it.

Yup, yup, yup... like I said, the plan is to venture out into other things most of us like, like hunting, fishing, skiing, snowboarding, motosports, etc... so it was best not to pigeonhole the company into a brand name that only encompassed shooting.

Totally open to suggestions... this isn't my jam-- my main gig is working for Recoil full-time, but I'm helping get the word out about the OnVirtus site.

So if you have something specific in mind you'd like to learn or a specific top-level trainer that would be a good fit, please let me know and I'll pass the info to Daniel. There are already more in the works, but they're not finalized, so I can disclose more info until the agreements are made.

Meh.
Shooting is the only sport that matters. Assuming I subscribe, the day it turns into an outdoor activities training site is the day I'll want my money back.

lol, I'd like to know about things that I don't know much about and haven't done because of that (and because of time)... like bow fishing, I'd love to know more about that. I'd also like to see classes from hunters. I have a membership to Masterclass even though definitely don't want to know how to rap or music producing... but I do find the writing classes interesting, annnnnd some of the cooking stuff even though I don't cook all fancy-like.

Ironically enough, a lot of the stuff I learned in 3-gun has helped me with long range. I didn't expect that-- but I do need to slow down some since time isn't such a factor at long range matches.

Thanks for your input.

Looks to me like the start of a successful site! You've got some big names there to give a huge amount of info.
For what it's worth I like the idea of expanding into other areas like hunting. I don't see how that has to take anything away from the shooting sports training.

@hippocampus, is the membership going to renew automatically annually? Or would I be prompted to renew? I do not like the idea of something I need to actively cancel vs choose to renew. I don't want the site storing my credit card info.

thanx.
Hi... sorry, for some reason I didn't see this question. But, I think you emailed me and I replied. We, personally, don't store your credit card info. I wouldn't like that either.
