Every now and again I am involved with designing some required device. Starting about a year ago I was asked to resolve the issue of "What the hell can I do to protect my muzzle cap when off the rifle?" for a suppressor sheath maker. The result of that was a simple line device for Battlecloth named the CAPLoop. For those that have ordered from Steve, they already know they can slip, flip and toss your muzzle cap safely back into the sheath and know where it is.
That product looks like this..
I use it too and it works perfectly.
About 6 months ago I got involved with a project to provide the same kind of support in hardware. I am calling this one CAPTRAP and it comes in two variants.
The first, CAPTRAP Rail- Side Mount was designed for top rail speed mount of what was speced out as precision "blind" caps. In other words, muzzle caps too nice to loose or screw up. The idea was to also protect the "receiving" threads from sand and grit when not in use, providing a pristine thread bed for the cap when required.
The second, CAPTRAP Rail- Forward Mount was speced for suppressor mounting and/or cap mounting. Some good folks worked on this design. The idea was for racked weapons, matched suppressor/rigs and what was described as statics or mounted weapons. In any event, this is a solid mount that is strong. Just note the threads are exposed for the period of time between swap outs.
All of these mounts come in either Medium (1/2 x 28 - typical .223) or Large (5/8 X 24 for .30 cal ). These are all 6061 aluminum, all machined black hard anodized. CAPTRAP works with either the 1913 milspec picatinny or Weaver rail. U.S. made by good folks.
So, why mention all this. I asked if I could float a handful of these out to the Hide before they go out. The answer was yes, but only fifty (50) sets of each (both sizes). Thats 200 total units. Either piece, any thread will be $25.
Now I have never sold anything on the Hide before and won't start now. I am thinking I will put this whole thing in Group Buy and then ask you to just state clearly what you want, then drop me a PM and I will then forward on to you who to call to order. I figure one piece will cost $2 to ship, so figure $5 for two and no more than $8 for a bunch. I'm just trying to figure out if anybody wants these. I don't make a dime off these sales to you folks, and the price is below what the project price is. Please be patient, with me and for the product as they are in black as I write this.
