TAB GEAR S.A.C.

Product Description:

The new TAB GEAR Silent Ammo Carrier, S.A.C., addresses the issues that you have to deal with when carrying a lot of ammo.

Those issues being:

Rattling ammo boxes
Loose brass all over your pack
Square corners poking you in the back
Uneven weight in a pack

The S.A.C will hold 100 rounds of .308 ammo. It also has ammo loops on the outside that will hold 10 rounds for quick access. There is a divider inside that allows the shooter to easily segregate live rounds from fired brass.

The rounds or empty brass do not rattle and make noise when you walk because they conform to what they are laying against.

It works very well to have two bags of 50 rounds, each one carried on each side of a pack, to evenly distribute weight.

It is very easy to store fired brass, no more trying to insert them back into shell loops or throwing them into a pack pouch to dig out later. Simply throw the empty brass into the inside compartment of the S.A.C. and they are ready to dump out later.

I originally made this bag up for a shooter almost two years ago and he has tested it out extensively. I had a concern of bullet runout being affected from loose rounds being carried in a S.A.C. The original customer had this same concern and carried one of these S.A.C.'s with some 6.5x47 ammo inside for two or three weeks on his daily drives. He let it get banged up in the bed of his truck, on the floor boards inside, etc. while driving around.

He then tested the accuracy by firing groups with ammo kept in plastic boxes versus the ammo from the S.A.C. and could find no accuracy degradation.

Features of the S.A.C. :

1000 Denier Cordura available in Coyote Brown, OD Green, MultiCam, Krpytek Highlander, Black

Shell loops on the outside to hold 10 rounds for quick access

PALS webbing on the back for multiple mounting options

Divider inside to separate live rounds from fired brass

Heavy duty #10 zipper with 550 cord pull

Bar tacks at critical wear areas for added strength

Double stitched binding around edges for added strength

No more having ammo rattle in boxes as you move

Empty bag weighs 4.5 ounces, full with 100 rounds of .308 175 SMK rounds is right at 6 pounds

Pricing is $50.00

damn. and this with the horribly expensive shipping to europe ... but then i'm at a meeting in NY in december. maybe i could pick it up there ...

steve/triad, any estimate when you'll have them in your shop?

Thank you for the offer to T&E the SAC's fellas, but I believe we've got the bugs worked out of them now.

BobM2, a quantity of them was shipped to Rifles Only two days ago, so they should be there already or should show up today. They've still got to add it to their website and get everything into their computer so it'll be a day so I'd imagine.

Like the description and Steve said Tom, there's PALS webbing on the back buddy. :)

You could pick it up the same time as your Kryptek shooting mat Dave.

ArmyJerry, you can make Alice clips work with the SAC easily.

You'd still have room for ammo after putting your quarter collection inside Steve.

Sorry din, just trying to make products that will help you be more productive in the field.

threetrees, we can have one waiting at your location in the states when you get here if you'd like.

Thanks a lot for your comments guys.

The SAC is a great piece of kit. It is bomb proof. I played with a few of the prototypes this year and they are awesome. $50 sounds like a lot but when you look at the amount of construction in this product you will understand that $50 is a fair price. Hell, a Tactical Tailor 30rd M4 mag pouch is $20 and there is barely anything to it. The SAC offers a lot of options for recreational shooters, competition shooters, hunters and HOGs.

edit: Do not want to disturb the advertisement for a nice product. So I remove potential considerations for alternative ideas/approaches to store/handle larger amounts of ammo.

Thank you for the overwhelming response on the SAC everyone. I've just been informed that all of the inventory we sent to Rifles Only is gone. I'll be heading right out to the shop to begin making the next shipment of SAC's.

BERTMAN77MK2, There are no plans for a mini ipad case at this time but you never know what the future holds.

lonely_wolf, I haven't thought about making a smaller one yet. If you put 50 rounds in this SAC it'll pack down into a pretty small package. Once I get caught up on current orders I might entertain making one for you on a custom basis. Check back with me in a month or so.

Hi Ring, I realize that our products aren not for everyone. For example, our rifle slings aren not cheap so I do not expect them to ever be in Bass Pro Shops, or Cabelas, or MidwayUSA. Those companies plan is moving cheaper priced products in volume. I get that and am not running that plan down at all. Not everyone can afford high end quality, no problem.

We concentrate on building innovative products using the best materials we can find that will not wear out and have a lifetime guarantee. The customer determines what the lifetime is. When you purchase a product with a TAB GEAR label on it, and I do not care if you are the fourth owner of the item, we will stand behind the product. If you are not happy with it, we will do what it takes to make you happy. I have lost count of the suppressor covers we have replaced with the vast majority of the issues being use beyond what the cover was designed for. It did not matter, the customer was not happy and we sent them a new cover.

Like I said before, we use the best materials we can find. I never ask about price when looking at equipment or raw materials for our products, I only want to know about quality. How many times have we read here on the Hide about "X" shooting mat, or "X" drag bag coming apart, buckles breaking, zippers failing, etc. after only a short period of time. That's because those products are made for companies who deal in lower quality products and sell in volume. When you see a product perpetually "on sale" for $49.99 do you know why that is? It is because they are made overseas in countries that pay pennies per hour for labor using the cheapest quality materials they can find. The companies here buy them by the container load and they are "on sale" forever. When the product fails and you complain they will send you another one, same quality. They have their profit determined by the amount of failed products they expect to have to replace due to the cheap materials used, that is their business plan.

I saw this sign on a business one time and I think it fits TAB GEAR perfectly. Quality doesn't cost...it pays. I use that philosophy in buying toys, equipment, raw materials, and in how I manufacture and price my products.

Almost all of the products TAB GEAR makes is made by my family. We all work very hard making quality products. We see very little failure rate in anything we build. I always stress to everyone that we have no idea who will buy what we're making. One sling might go to a guy who will only carry his rifle 50 yards to a deer stand once a year. The next sling made might be going on a mans rifle that will be in Afghanistan. We build our products for the guy going to Afghanistan because after all, what good is a lifetime guarantee if you are half way around the world when your kit breaks.

Taking the SAC as an example, it would probably never fail without the bar tacks I install at each corner and at each zipper end. I could also probably get away with one line of stitching around the edge too. However when I was testing it out and looking for weak spots I know that with 100 rounds of ammo inside the bag is pretty heavy and I could envision a potential problem over time. That is why I decided to put the bar tacks in and the double row of stitching. Every step takes time and time equals money at the end of the day. I decided that I want the piece of mind knowing I made something as simple looking as a SAC as tough as I could make it and did not cut any corners in doing so.

Now, like powerstrokeOBX said, if MidwayUSA knocks off the SAC like they did to TAB GEAR, Red Tac Gear, and Triad Tactical's products they'll probably be offered for around $25.00 and that will be right in there with what you are willing to pay. That is not a gig at you Ring, just to MidwayUSA since PowerstrokeOBX mentioned it. :)

Hey Black-X, you know how to get ahold of me. Thank you for your interest.

Not to dogpile, but, Tony is spot on.

It costs a lot of money to run a business inside the United States (which he proudly does). And having a small company is a lot of work. The shooting gear market that we are in is a niche market to a degree, especially if your production is not overseas, and your not selling through the big chain stores. So the numbers sold may be in the thousands, not the millions.

Now that I'm a business owner I look at things differently to a degree. I know that time is the most expensive thing in production of high quality gear. So the more stitches to increase strength = more money. And no one is making money hand over fist producing gear in the US unless they have economies of scale (ie big).

I have several pieces of gear that I purchased from Tony when he first started - still going strong. I will continue to purchase gear from Tony due to the high quality.

Edited to add - I think the thing lost on most people is the time and thought that goes into even bringing the simple products to market.

Tony, When will the Multicam SAC be available from Steve @ TRIAD?

...and David, since you're on this post, I just bought one of your Todd bags and it is badass brother...rearbag, chest to forearm support for offhand, barricade support, rooftop support and no weight to lug around. Thanks for the great product!!!!

Attached the TAB Gear S.A.C to my Eberlestock Gunslinger II backpack and loaded 80 rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor in the S.A.C. and 10 rounds on the outside cover in preparation for a match this weekend. As you can see from the photos the S.A.C. with ammo is very flat and easy access. This looks to be a keeper product! Richard P

a couple questions
1. will the outside loops handle 300 wm?
2. is there something at the top of the divider to hold the flap so live rounds don't get mixed with the empties while on the move?
thanks,

Awesome Monmouth, we all appreciate your support and continued business, thank you very much.

RJN, didn't get them in the mail today, my nephew just got in from Afghanistan and stopped by for a visit. I'll be sending Triad a text shortly telling him they'll be ready to ship tomorrow.

RRP II, Very nice pictures. Do you have high resolution copies of those? If you don't mind I'd like to get some copies emailed to me if you can.

sakobob, not sure on the 300 WM, it'll be a tight fit, I'll check for you tomorrow. The divider is sewn very close to the top of the pouch, about 1/4", so it will be difficult for live rounds to get in with the empties. When you open the zipper you can not see the top of the divider. You have to pull the top of the zipper up to see the top of the divider. If you carried it with the top of the pouch oriented up, I'd say no way will it happen. If you carried it upside down in a pack a few rounds miiiight get mixed up but it wouldn't be many due to the way the divider is located inside.
