I have decided after research on here that I would like to buy a 22 rifle for short range target shooting. Is there a dealer or someone on here that makes a good combo setup for a beginner like myself? Remember I want to start at 100 yards and maybe go up to 250 yards with the setup.

Depending on whether you want bolt or semi-atuo, Id say a Savage 22 bolt or a ruger 10/22 with a couple of upgrades. Optics, well thats another ballpark.. Cheap, mildly cheap, costly,to plain out stupid expensive. But a rimfire scope will have adjustable paralax down to like 7 yards or something real close like that.

Good luck with whatever you decide on..

For my "precision rifle trainer", I took a CZ452 Varmint, set it in a Boyd's Tacticool stock. I fit.a Rifle Basix trigger, DIP 25moa picatinny rail, and a Weaver GS 3-10x40 mil/mil scope, and fit a Accushot rail so I can use my existing Atlas Bipod.

It's awesome....I shoot it more than any other Rifle I own.....including a fish eating cormorant @ 287 yards 2 days ago

I know they are probably the most popular 22lr around, but i never cared for my 10/22. It was picky with ammo, picky with magazines, and i spent way too much trying to make myself like it more. I sold it and when i got the itch again bought a mossberg plinkster. No its not the most accurate thing in the world, but is has not jammed yet, and it takes care of cans no problem. In the future if i want a "cheap, target gun" I will get a .17hmr.

Another vote for a CZ 452!

I have the threaded 16" American with the weaver 3-10 mil/mil and have been completely satisfied with the rifle and performance. A 3"x4" silhouette at 250 yards with wolf match ammo is child's play with this rifle.
