I bought a Surgeon 591 on the group buy. I got a Kreiger barrel and Last week my A5 stock came in.

I bought the barrel from one of the mods. It had been chambered and finished at 26 inches. I modified it slightly for the Tri rail and threaded it for my silencer and got it head spaced correctly.

I used an old style Rem trigger.

After I got the A5 I skim bedded it with the Surgeon DBM and pillars.

Here it is put together for the first time. I test fired it with Corbon ammo from the SH cup a couple years ago. It will shoot into the same hole at 100.

Today I shot a few 220 gr subsonic, through the 11 twist barrel and it easily holds moa at 100 yards.

Re: New Rifle build

Looking good there Doc.

You can be proud of that one.

If it was mine, I'd be gettin' some Krylon on it.

Or GunKote or CeraCoat.

(I tend to avoid bright/shiny ---- flat black ain't just for charcoal grilles and wood stoves).

Re: New Rifle build

Fired first set of OCW groups yesterday.

RL15 44.7gr in Lapua brass, CCI Large rifle primer Lapua Scenar 185gr moly bullet was the best in the OCW group. QL had it as just over max but I have no pressure signs. It is a one holer about 6/10s inch across at 100 yards.

I plan to chrono this load and go a step higher if I am not to 2600fps yet. My next OCW will be same same but with Varget powder.
I plan to do the same with the 155gr silver scenar as well up to 2900fps or so.

Once I get something it likes I'll go to 800 yards (that is as far as I can shoot here at home).
