looking for a scope to put on my new rifle. Looking to spend about $2500. I was thinking about a nightforce atacr or a vortex razor HD gen ii. I've heard a few good things about IOR valdada and from what I understand they come with rings. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

the rifle will be used mostly for target shooting and hunting occasionally. I would like to shoot to 1000+ yards.

The world is your oyster. Razor Gen 2, Razor AMG, Kahles K624i, Minox ZP5 5-25x, S&B PM2 5-25x, ATACR 5-25x F1 etc. are all available in or around that price range. Think I saw some used Hensoldt mildot scopes in the PX too.

Went vortex on last one, has open cross hairs on ret, just a little different, kind of like it at distance, and you can shoot the staples off your target at 100

Thanks for the responses, I am starting to lean towards the vortex. Initially I was thinking the price difference in the nightforce atacr F1 may be worth it but i have yet to hear anything negative about the vortex.

In that price range I'd be looking at a GenII Razor or used Nightforce F1. Hard to make a bad decision with that budget though. Most in that price range are all top performers and will serve you well.

I found a pretty good deal on a Vortex at 2299, and a nightforce atacr 7-35 at 2999. Hmmm... is the extra mag worth it? Do any of you have experience with the new higher mag NF

The reticles are different however. Both are mil reticles but the vortex is Christmas tree reticle. While the nightforce is just their MIL-R reticle. I don't really have a preference since I've never had any experience with either.

I love my 7-35. I think it's definitely worth it at sub $3k if you get one at that price. I bought my Razor 2 from the px here for well under $2300 and with the vortex warranty I'd look at a used one and save some good money if that's the scope you decide on. I'd still go NF 7-35 though.

The F1 ATACR 7-35X gets my vote as well. I have 6 NF scopes never had to send anyone back for repairs.

I ended up ordering the vortex, the nightforce was a bit over my budget. And based on what I've read and heard the vortex is just as good! I ordered badger ordinance rings as well. Any recommendations on a different brand?

You should very happy with you choices on scope and rings. My friend has the TRG22 in .308 shoots lights out. I would expect you get 1/3 moa or better when you get a load developed or just shoot Hornady ELD-M.
