Well, I've been wanting to put together a nice custom bolt gun for quite a few years now, so I finally began my project this past December. I've been holding off on posting pictures etc on here, waiting until I felt like I had enough to call it a custom. With the arrival of my shiny new XLR Evolution, I think I've finally hit that point.

Remington 700 Action
XLR Evolution Chassis
Jewell R HVR Trigger
Vortex Viper FA 6.5-20x44
NF 20MOA Base
Burris Extreme Tactical rings

Still lacking the action and rebarrel (Plans to have a Bartlein installed by Moon at Crescent Customs - finances pending)

Pictures to follow as soon as I can get them uploaded :)

The all black look looks good. I may have to do that when I buy my second XLR. I get my first XLR back from my smith on Friday (crossing fingers and toes).

What are you going to rebarrel to?

I tried to respond last night, but my lovely power company shut my power off mid reply. Capreppy, I actually went with the green, which looks black when not in an area with plenty of light. For rebarrel, I believe I'm going with a threaded 24" 1:10 Bartlein. Have plans to add a can/brake, although the gun as is has very little recoil.

Hogtooth5r, the rings are high, since I made a critical error when buying them. Somehow I took my measurements off of the Evolution HD's 2" handgaurd, instead of the 1.75 that comes on the standard Evolution. I'll thought about moving back down a size on the rings, but to be honest, with the high comb of the XLR (notice I have the cheek rest pretty low) my sight picture is perfect. I'm also eventually going with a NF or S&B optic with 50mm+ objective, so I'll need the extra height. Right now I have a little over 1/4" between the handgaurd and the outside of my scope caps.

All in all, I'm super pleased with the XLR. Everything went together smoothly, and my rifle seems to shoot much better. I went from minute of paper at 200 yds to about a 2.5" group, with some no name 150gr rounds. I've got 50 pcs of Lapua brass, and a 100ct box of 155 Lapua Scenars, but no press, powder or primers, so my ammo is limited to whatever I can find on a store shelf (which aint much!)

Looks great! I looked really hard at the XLR when I built my most recent rifle I ended up going with the AICS 2.0 only because it ended up being around the same price and I could get it shipped that day rather then the 10 week lead XLR had at the time and what can I say I can be impatient.

I went with Corvette Yellow (can't be tactical with twin one year olds so might as well scream "look at me"). Should be getting mine back tomorrow or Monday (hoping tomorrow). I'm also getting a JP Bennie Cooley Muzzle Brake installed on mine for extended range sessions. Being installed at the same time as it barreled action and stock were being cerakoted.

I'm still torn on the rebarrel. I've seriously considered going 260 instead of staying with 308. If I do end up sticking with the 308, my next build will be a 260, with M2008 Action and XLR Carbon chassis. If I convert my current rifle, I'll probably go 7RUM & XLR Carbon. In either case, I'll just order the XLR first, then work on the other components, so the wait will be negated basically.

My next build will likely be a 338 LM (assuming with twins I can afford one) or a 6.5 RSAUM or 7 RSAUM. Leaning towards a 7 RSAUM. I would LOVE a 338 LM and I do reload so I could afford to feed it. My 223 is built off a Savage WMS action and could be converted back for use on a 7 RSAUM build and just find another SA for my 223 trainer.

I've been itching to do a 338 LM as well. Soooo many choices! I really have no need for a 338, but I feel like it's all about the cool factor. I have a set of 308 dies, about 250pcs once fired hornady match brass, 50pcs twice fired lapua brass, and 100ct box of 155 Lapua Scenars for my 308, but no powder, primers or press to reload yet :(.

Ordered a set of .5" rings today, so I should be able to close that gap up a little bit.

Posted this in another thread today, but figured I would add it to the thread I created for my rifle. We all know results are critical around here. I have to say, I don't think it's too bad considering factory barrel and ammo.
