New Sig Spear (6.8x51 Sig Fury) now shipping

An ill-conceived design, for a poorly thought-out purpose? Built by Sig?

What could possibly go wrong?
Pretty much, it's about time people started catching on to the overpriced worthlessness that is SIG. They have not released a single new design in the last decade that did not have major issues that never should have got past testing. We're not talking about things that show up 10,000 rounds later, we're talking about stuff that doesn't make it through the first range trip. If it's SIG and it either wasn't made in germany or says 226 on it, it's likely overpriced trash. Did no one learn from Kimber.......what do you think the same guy is going to do running another gun company.....

The 716/516, MCX, MPX, P210, 320, 365, Cross all had major issues and some (516/716/MCX/Cross) had recalls out of the gate, The 365 and 320 should have. The MPX was on generation 3 by it's 3rd year on the market, Gen 1 didn't even make it a year. MCX has constantly had accuracy issues, and as far as SIG is concerned 4 MOA is acceptable. P210 had recoil rod/spring failures, 365 had a host of issues cycling, and well everyone knows the 320's drama.

Every gun company has issues, and there are always things that will pop up that didn't show up in testing, until it's in 10,000 people's hands and lots of rounds downrange. The problem with Sig is a lot of their new designs have recoil spring-rate/impulse issues, that says to me SIG's engineers probably should stick to making something other than guns.

The MPX and MCX have such violent fast cycling that they destroy AR triggers..... The MPX was so bad, that for years Geiselle tried to make a trigger that would take the abuse, they couldn't, the best they could do was include 45-60% recoil springs to try and slow the bolt down. The MPX was supposedly designed from the ground up to be a suppressed platform, but it's the absolute worst at putting gas back in the users face. The 320 when it came out had such a poor spring rate that it was so weak to go into battery it didn't have enough spring tension to reliable strip and chamber rounds, but was so stiff at the end of the stroke that it was short stroking. Sig's answer.........you need 1000 rounds of break in.......no you need to put a proper recoil spring in it.

MCX has been plagued by accuracy issues, I get that they are battle rifles but in 2025 there's no reason an AR should not be able to be sub 2 MOA with good ammo, especially when SIG is charging $800 for barrels. I've bought several JP Nato barrels, every one has been sub MOA with good ammo, and for under $500.

Not to mention Sig's ridiculous parts prices.......$800 for 4 MOA barrels, $200 bolts, $600 for a stripped upper, $500 for a bolt/carrier, $350 for the recoil assembly. They make JP parts look cheap but Sig's quality is garbage on top of it.

Couldnt have said it better myself. They're trying REALLY hard to just pass off shit riding on their old reputation, thinking they dont have to adhere to same Swiss QA they once did. Past their SP2009, everything is pure garbage, even their horrible P210 imitations. I fired the real thing in Norway, and there's no comparison.

You just touched on my issues, it is why I sold both of them.
