Just reload, I have a metric f*ck ton of 168FGMM ready for my Tango but once I'm done, it's the 155 Scenars I'll be using. I'll probably load those anyway for F/TR shoots. It's a TacOps, feed it the best.

Event, I run 44.0 grains of H4895 or 46.0 grains of Varget with 155 Scenars at 2.82" OAL, in Lapua brass with either Fed or CCI Match primers in my Tac51 for results better than I could ever hope for

Back home in Indiana, had three days of P-Dog hunting in Kennebec South Dakota. Could not have been happier with how my equipment performed. 636 was my longest confirmed shot, though I had one at 1073 that I will SWEAR I connected with as did my spotter however, when we went downrange to locate the body we could not find anything there. :-(

The Lima51 paired with the suppressor was a joy to shoot. We were using a Lecia Geovid range finder and I was consistently putting 1st shots on the dog holes ranging from 200yrds to 1000yrds. By no means am I saying that I every shot was one shot one kill however, it was REALLY nice to not have to second guess my equipment. My gun seems to shoot the ballistic table plus/minus a click from 100 to 1000yrds. That is pretty damn awesome to be able to take the rifle out of the box and have that kind of consistency with less than two weeks of practice with it before taking it out west.

The S&B PMII was outstanding clarity was fantastic. I was surprised that I was able to find P-Dogs over 1000yrds with ease and never used the full 25X. I found that 18X to 20X was about perfect. I attempted several shots that were 900+ but just could not score a confirmed shot another :-( It is like shooting at a small red bull can at 1000yrds.

Ok I am not really a reloader so trying not to sound dumb here. I want to get started but just have not invested the time. You are just loading based on OAL? Did you measure what your max OAL was and is that X off the lands?

SAAMI specs, if I recall correctly is 2.80" OAL.

Bullet profile has much to do with this.

A long skinny match bullet with a very slender pointed tip can be seated out further than a blunt nosed projectile.

Ok I am not really a reloader so trying not to sound dumb here. I want to get started but just have not invested the time. You are just loading based on OAL? Did you measure what your max OAL was and is that X off the lands? </div></div>

I load it to overall length because that is as long as will feed right in my AICS magazines. I load all my magazine length amo to that length and it either shoots in all my rifles or I dump the rifle. No way I have fifty different loads for fifty different tactical rifles. I want one load that works in all. It just happens to be a lser in my Tac OPs rifle

On Praire Dogs, I used to teach with James Jarrett in New Mexico and his ranch had a PD problem so we would use them as long rnage stalk up and shoot targets. I know I am going to hell if PETA gets in charge but so be it. Fun as all hell and I can not wait to get to do it again.

I would watch guys shoot the little frs and then see other PDs drag them off and back into holes. James would say they would eat their dead but never actually saw that myself.

I have personally seen prairie dogs eat their dead. Its crazy! Here's a pic of one I shot who was munching on a dead p'dog. I'm not sure if the goo on his claws are from the headshot or goo he picked off the dead dog he was eating.

Very nice rifle! The attention to detail is second to none.

The picture really captures the color on the barrel and action very well, more so than some other pictures I have seen.

Your PDog skills are insane! Keep the pics of the rifle and targets coming! I can't wait for mine.

When we are shooting prairie dogs some one ALWAYS breaks out in a Bill Murray imitation from the Caddy Shack movie regarding his bein "on mission to kill gophers."

The Monty Python references also come up a lot.

Then there are the always available references to "medic" when you take the wheels out from under one and they are making a mad dash limping back to the hole.

Then you have to be careful of the danger close ones that come up in nearby mounds just to bark a few times at you. Got one of them last year with my S&W 38 spl J frame 342Ti at 37 yards.

Just doing that much shooting and creating that much red mist does something to a guy.

My long range rig always comes out for some fun shooting at those that are just beyond our small caliber varmint calibers. Going for some 800 and 1000 yards shots this year with the 6.5x284.

Range update for my Lima 51

So I am coming up on 2 years with my Tac Ops Lima 51. I have approximately 2000 rounds through it and it still drives nails!

1st target was 100yrds with Federal 168gr gold medal match ammo. Cold bore shot was through the right side of the center of the target. Shots 2,3, and 5 through the same hole. #4 was a called flyer.

2nd target was a 200yrd target with factory lapua 155gr sceaners. Shot 1 was the upper left and a called flyer. 2,3, and 4 through the same hole. No idea what happened on #5. It felt good seemed to break clean just did not go where I hoped it would go! IE through that same hole again!!

3rd target was a 1000yrd group with Federal 175gr gold medal match.

This rifle makes me look good every time I go to the range. Every single round I have put down range with it puts a smile on my face.

I am starting to run low on factory ammo to shoot with it so started some load development with it. So far I have had really good luck with IMR4064 and the 175gr SMK's. I have also tried the 155gr Sceaners but that load seems to need some work. Going to focus on the 175 for now and that one seems to be pretty close to a gold load.

I shared my targets with Mike with a note that say "Hey man I know that you already know this but you build some damn fine rifles!!"

Have a 2nd Tac Ops masterpiece in the works. Waiting on a 338 lapua which will also have one of Mike's titanium cans on it as well. Can't wait for that one to get here!! Have some ammo stocked up for it.

Excellent shooting and follow-up to your original post. And now you have a Tac 70 (.338 Lapua) on order complete with a Tac Ops Titanium suppressor. Damn, that is sweet. Gotta' love the Free States.

For sure the suppressor friendly states rock! Starting in July of this year you can use a suppressor when you hunt. We can't use rifle for game in Indiana however we do have our fair share of varmint (Ground hog and Coyote).
