New to heavy Shmedium bag!

I think I took out about 2 lbs and have it around 8lbs. It’s been a while though since I weighed it
I believe mine are slightly over 9lbs. They do seem to come overfull. There has to be room for the fill to move so that the bag can settle properly.
They intentionally overfill them so new buyers don't feel like they got a half-empty bag of potato chips.
I find my correct amount of fill by removing a cup or so of the sand, and placing the bag tits-down on the back of my dining room chair.
I want the fill to still separate the rifle from the back of the chair, but not much more than that. If you flop it over the edge of a 2x4 it should have plenty of room between the board and the rifle.
As you use the bag it will stretch a little, and you will get more particular about how much fill you like in it. Just adjust accordingly.

This is about the same fill level I run mine at. Just barely enough to keep the bag functional if you had to use it on the edge of a sheet of plywood or some other thin barricade, but no more fill than that. I think it ends up at around 8 or 8.5lbs.
Somewhere between 9.5 and 10.3 seem to work for me.

There is no way to recommend a specific target weight, as they seem to vary quite a bit in size. One of mine was 10 lbs and acts great around 8, while the other was 9 lbs new and is best around 7.5. It seems like taking 10% out is a good starting point. Deflate until the top is nice and flat with the bag sitting on the 1.5” edge of a 2x4 and tweak it as needed from there. Break it in first.
Wax the snot out of it. Beat the snot out of it. and the material will become more pliable. After that I dumped about 2 cups of sand from mine and it works great on any barricade. It truly is a personal preference by the end user. I have dumped enough out of a couple different bags I believe I could fill an empty shell of a bag and be good.
