With powder being $60+ a pound Whats a good powder and load for the 7mm PRC with a 175 ELDX or 180 Berger? I have on hand some 7977, 8133, RL22 ,RL23. All apparently all unicorn dust now a days. I do not have any H1000

Different bullet on the Hodgdon page, but the point is to suggest rough starting loads and a decent powder list.
With the 180s, I got decent results with H4831, but better with H1000 and Retumbo.

I’m running Staball HD with good results. You’ve got to have the case full to get ES under control.
Staball HD is good. More velocity than H1000 or N565. N570 appears to be the best for velocity based on GRT.

Well, I’ve been testing some 197 SMKs with StaBall HD and so far the speed numbers aren’t just super impressive. Only getting about 2675 FPS the SD is in the single digits, but the speed is not there.
That the same exact book and data I’m using. I went and shot some H 1000 with those 197 just a few minutes ago and the speed is dismal in my opinion but I keep telling myself that’s almost a 200 grain bullet.
I wasn't aware of that. It's one of the cheapest powders at Scheels, that would be great if it works well in the 7
That's rough. I really would have expected performance closer to book than that. I get pretty much bang on what you'd expect based on that data. 168 LRX running around 2815-2830 from a 20" barrel on 70.8gn StaballHD. According to Barnes, I could even go up to 71.2 and maybe push 2900.
