hey, I'm new to long range shooting, I'm not new to shooting I just haven't tried any scoped bolt action rifles. I mostly have experience with pistols and military rifles (m1 garand, Mauser K98, ar-15, etc.). This rifle will be for target shooting (maybe some hunting but I haven't decided).
Anyway I did some research and I just ordered a Remington 700 5R mil-spec 24" .308 win. and these accessories:
- Badger Ordnance 1-Piece Maximized Picatinny-Style 20 MOA Elevated Scope Base Remington 700 Short Action
- Badger Ordnance Picatinny-Style 30mm Maximized Rings Matte Medium
- Wheeler Engineering Scope Ring Alignment Tool 30mm
- Wheeler Engineering FAT (Firearm Accurizing Torque) Torque Wrench Screwdriver
- Wheeler Engineering Level-Level-Level Scope Crosshair Leveling Tool
- Harris S-LM Bipod Leg Notch Sling Swivel Stud Mount 9" to 13" Black
- Williams one piece steel floor plate and trigger guard
- Schwiebert Precision Ballisticard (federal match 186 gr and 175 gr)
- Leupold Mark 4 Long Range Tactical M1 Rifle Scope 30mm Tube 4.5-14x 50mm Side Focus Illuminated Mil-Dot Reticle Matte
- killFlash ARD (Anti-Reflection Device) Leupold 50mm Objective
- butler creek scope covers
- Bushnell Legend 1200 ARC Laser Rangefinder 6x Black
Is this a good starting set up, did I miss anything that I would need?
Are those rings and base the right size for the scope?
Is there a good tutorial around on how to set everything up, or should I have a gunsmith mount the scope and set it up?
Thank you for any help.
Anthony.
