Rifle Scopes New USO ER25; so they have improved glass and 110 moa elevation = PM11 5-25 Now ?

I Have read a couple of posts on the hide that state the ER25 from US Optics in recent times has improved their glass quality, and they now have a 110 moa elevation in this scope (is that correct ?). With these upgrades has it closed the gap when compared to the SB PM11 5-25 also taking into account the two year warranty issue.

Glass wise they are on par with the new LR17 I picked up when compared to my Pm2 5-25. Can't speak to the elevation though.

The single downside to the USOs are they are around 1.5" longer and a little bit heavier.

Thankyou I read here they new ER25 had 110 moa elevation I'd like to confirm if that was true.

I remember them mentioning the 110 MOA elevation EREK at Shot. I don't remember if it was last year or the year before. It exists though, at that time, I don't think it was on all their products. Perhaps it is now. I would be sure to ask this to them. As for better glass, I have not heard anything about that.

the travel verys, they range from 90-100 moa....I've got a few with GenII XR's ready to ship

Now I did get one with over 100 but that is personal

I think the big advantage with the USO compared to any other scope is the ability of adjusting the erector without the turrets giving you MAX elevation

I have not heard of a glass change but I've sold two to the same guy recently (Jtrax) and he tells me he can't see a difference in glass quality. If I answer your question direct, it will make it look like a bias answer. But I'll take a USO anyday! I'm also a dealer for S&B and Vortex but.....damn, I love my USO's

After the scope is zeroed and the final position of the erector is set. QC then goes back and checks total elevation. Depending on where on the scope (Ring/base) was mounted. That will determine where the erector was set and then cause that difference

There have been some changes. There are many more changes to come as we are always striving to produce the best optics out there.

Regarding the travel. The tube and the knobs have been changed to get more travel out of the ER25.

yes, but the previous question was....why would the elevation travel vary by roughly 10moa? The old model would range from 65-75MOA, the new I've seen from 90-100.

I cannot speak from experience as to glass quality in the older USO models. I've been through many different brands and models of scopes in the past several years in search my preferred optic. I primarily run S&B 5-25's as I have not found anything that will outperform the Schmidt. I also have a few Premier 5-25's and a couple of March FX 5-40x56's. I've also owned and have since sold Nightforce, Steiner, Hensoldt, Leupold, Bushnell, Vortex, and others.

Until a couple months ago, I had never owned USO's. Over the years I've come close to purchasing but backed out due to varying reports of glass quality issues ranging from poor to best glass ever used. I wanted to use and like US Optics so a couple of months ago i received a 5-25x58 GEN II XR. I soon began testing it against my other scopes almost daily. I did so in varying conditions at various times for approx one month before I came to a conclusion regarding overall glass quality. I tried like hell to find something wrong with the glass. Instead, I was extremely impressed with not only the glass but the overall quality and ease of use of this big USO.

Although I know some claim to see a difference in the glass between the S&B 5-25 and the Premier 5-25...with many claiming that the Premier has ever so slightly better glass. I am in no way disputing anyone else's opinion re: the same. However, I find the glass to be indistinguishable as b/w Schmidt and Premier. Now that I've put the USO through its paces I can say that as between the Schmidt, Premier, and USO, I find there to be no difference. All three have excellent glass. I just received another USO...a 3.2-17x44. Glass is excellent in it as well. When I buy another optic, there is a good chance it will be another USO.

These are my opinions. I understand that we have different eyes and there will be differences of opinions on this issue. However, if anyone could look through the two USO's that I have and say the glass quality is less than excellent, then they would say the exact same thing about my other scopes.

This is most likely a stupid question but the way I understand the main advantage of EREK is that it does not matter what rail you have on your gun 0 or 40 moa because you can essentially move the erector all the way to the bottom to get all the adjustment so you don't need a rail with moa built into a rifle if you use a USO with EREK...do I make sense or do I have it wrong ?

Woah! That's quite a bit of travel.

I only asked the question because it seemed to me that if the inside diameter of the tube is the same, the erector assembly diameter and length is the same and the pitch on the threads of the spindle under the elevation knob are the same... I would only think that the movement of the assembly would be the same. Maybe slight variations for machining tolerances but 10moa seemed like a lot.

This is no knock on USO. They clearly make an awesome product that is built like a tank that can take a lot of punishment and keep on going. I just wanted to better understand how scopes work/are made.

The glass (and more than likely the coatings) on mine have never been anything but amazing. But in 5 years, improvements in glass, coatings and mechanicals will be found no doubt!

On another subject, USO used to do a massive 15-40x or similar. Had 235 or so MOA of travel? I think it was an SN-9? It's no longer on their Web site. I need one... not. But it has fascinated me since I first saw it. I remember one guy on here bought one and it got photo-shopped as the Hubble, which is probably marginally less powerful than the USO scope below.

Anyone have one? What do you use it for? Do they still make them on special order? I was thinking it would be the perfect thing for a Barrett? Inquiring minds want to know.

I recently sold my SN9.....reason being I want all MIL/MIL mine had the Euro MOA reticle in it. I wont lie it was the nicest optic I have looked through, brilliant, better than Hensoldt. PM11 etc.

Also I needed other scopes so as it has panned out I was able to purchase another scope along with half the value of a second one roughly.

My only complaint was lack of zero stop and size.......made an impractical rifle even more so.

On another note is the fact the ER-25 5-25 T-PAL is not a one piece main tube an issue......all other manufactures rave on about the Virtues of the "machined one piece tube" most USO's seem to have the objective screwed on it would seem this would not be as impervious to water leaking etc. I do think that he old discontinued 3.8-22x44 was however a 1 piece main tube.

No, the old Ergo objectives screwed onto the main tube. You think the moving parts of an Ergo would be more impervious to water than a fixed objective?

Dave I new the ERGO would be screwed on, but the tube before the ERGO is one piece, but on the ER-25 TPAL it looks as if there is a seam were the objective screws on just as the scope body begins to flare out to the 58mm diameter. To my eye the tube on the ER-25 looks to be 2 piece. Its funny USO have not made this part 1 piece as every other scope maker always touts how they have a "one piece main tube" on their optic.

Maybe its an advantage to have this as two pieces (if it is 2 pieces).

Waaay back in "the good old days" gun rags had people submerging their scope in water to check for any tell-tale bubbles that would indicate it was not water proof. Then one was directed to freeze the scope overnight to determine if the sub-freezing temperatures would compromise the sealed scope. I've had a half dozen or so USOs over the last twenty years. Most of mine had the parallax adjustment on the Objective. USO told me not to submerge the scope in water. I haven't owned one in the last 6 or 7 years so I have no idea if USO scopes are now "waterproof/fog proof" like most, if not all, mid to high-end optics claim.

Oh...I never tried submerging ANY of my scopes in water (I couldn't see the need to try and "drown" a $3K optic), but they were subjected to freezing temperatures when I hunted with them.
