Thanks to Matt and the guys over at XLR I have one of the first new XLR Envy's to come off the floor along with a Barricade stop coming to me. They shipped it to my applicator (Code 1 Tactical) to be done in NRA Blue yesterday!! This new XLR Envy chassis has a full ARCA rail.

Stay Tuned for pictures and a full review in the next week or two.....Super excited to get this new chassis in hand, especially in NRA blue!!!

Once they update their website in the next 2 weeks or so you will have the option to choose the existing half ARCA/half Pic or the new full ARCA. So they didnt get rid of it, you will just be able to choose what you want.

Really interested in this chassis. I’m curious if you can unscrew the butt and put any buffer tube compatible butt stock on?

It’s my understanding that XLR uses an oversized buffer tube that is not mil spec or commercial sized. You might be able to replace the tube though

Its coated and on the way back to me. Will have it put together and some more pictures for you next week. Big thanks to @BigRso (Code1 Tactical) for getting it coated and shipped so quickly!

how did you get the full rail cut? I was under the impression this wouldn't be available any time soon, if ever because it would require a whole design change to the chassis, because the way it flares out by the flush cup area. the pic looks great!!

@padom how do you like the Extreme buttstock compared to the standard Tactical version? And is that a 26" barrel sitting in the chassis? Any idea what the length of the Envy's forend is approximately from the recoil lug?

I really like the Extreme stock. Especially the bottom where a back rides. Thats a 27" Kreiger Heavy Varmint 6.5x47L with a APA Gen2 Fat Bastard.

Im not sure on the length but can take a measurement later. Its longer than the Element

It's around 2.5" or so longer than the Element depending on how you measure it. I've used the Envy since they have been out and they work real well. I do like the idea of the full arca rail because it's smooth and you can slide your gun in and out of windows or on barricades without risking knocking your bag off like I have done with the pic rail...

Added: I've used all three stocks and prefer the standard tactical stock for PRS and the Extreme for bench or prone only. If you want to shoot 100 yard groups from a bench the Extreme works. If you want to shoot positions, have qd cups for slings, bags, etc, and have a little more option as far as adjusting your rear bag / rear height position on the fly, go with the tactical.

Found in thier fact page finaly, "Neither. Our buffer tubes have a larger outside diameter than A2 style or carbine style buffer tubes. The inside diameter and threaded portion are all standard AR sizes however."
They seem to dance around the question in several places?
Maybe they prefer we use thier stocks, ok but I like Mag pull as a standard I can swap depending on use for the day.
One big reason I use the ar platform is to get away from (proprietary hell).

    Am I reading this wrong?
    Thanks.

All our chassis will accept ANY buffer tube as all have a 1 3/16-16 thread. As noted in our FAQ's, you cannot use an AR butt stock that has a molded in anti-rotation dowel because it will interfere with your hand at the grip. Some chassis companies move the grip down so you can use butt stocks with the anti-rotation dowel but that moves the grip geometry down so your finger has to reach up to the trigger. This is not a good idea in our opinion so we do not build the chassis this way. Our buffer tubes still run the standard buffer tube thread pitch but have a thicker wall thickness so they are more robust for some of the big guns we have.

Edit to add: the term "mil-spec" buffer tube refers to the diameter, not the thread call out so no, none of our tubes are mil-spec. But a mil-spec tube will work on our chassis. That does not mean the butt stock you put with that buffer tube will work though...

Thank you for the explination XLR.
Somehow I could not confirm that from wording on the site.
I would think a standard buffer tube would support a 6.5 or 280 in a 24 inch barrel medium conture?
Specking out next build, likethe stocks you have.
However since it may go to hunting camp will forgo the snazy blue and stainless for something subdued at least.

@XLR. When will these be available on your site? Will they ever be offered as a chassis only option like the element?

We will be adding the full length RRS/Arca option to the site within the next few weeks. They are available to order now if you want to give us a call at 970-241-1807 and yes, you can get it without the butt stock but only if you call your order in.

Just for my curiosity.....if I wanted to get the full arca rail for the envy I just ordered can I call and make that change? Not sure I want to, but curious if I can.

    Thank you XLR,

    Chad

Yes you can. As long as it has not shipped you will be good to go. Depending on when you ordered it, it might cause a bit more lead time but probably not. Also, I think we only have the full length draw for Remington or Remington clones at the moment.

Great.....just called and made the change. Great CS, by the way.

I haven’t used it but I think you have to get rid of the small knob on the front of the magpul prs that locks into a AR lower receiver, but once it’s flush it should work
Anyone used Magpul's Gen 3 PRS with the envy? If so pics and description of how it fits or any mods you made would be appreciated.
